When I was in elementary school, I think that the gifted program just took everybody who was scoring 99th percentile on the standardized tests that we took each year anyway.

Have people heard the story about Beyonce's hospital stuff? They paid a tone of money to the hospital and then were like blocking access and closing entire hallways and whatnot.
Well the main person getting interviewed who was blocked from seeing his TWO PREEMIE TWINS! in the NICU is my college friend's husband. One of the twins is home now with mom and news crews are outside her house trying to get an interview. CRAZY!!
