Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

My elderly cat gets a mat at the same spot. For two years. I cut it when it gets long but it stays in the same spot.

Kittenish has a spot that I just wonder if she can even groom easily now. So far just brushing fixes things but I can easily see us getting into mat territory and I do not look forward to it.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Since we're testing for G&T in two weeks, I've been getting Dylan into the habit of at least two workbook pages every day, so we don't get to test day and have him suddenly not be in the mood to hold a pencil or follow directions. (Which of course could happen anyway and is why I think that testing 4 year-olds for giftedness by having a total stranger watch them fill out a multiple choice test is an exercise in futility, but G&T placement starts in kindergarten, so here we are.)

Fortunately I really love the kind of logic puzzles that the tests are based on, so it's been fun for me to show him how they work.

Also, Downton Abbey YAY. So glad this show is back.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Sigh. I read this three times before I was able to puzzle out what exactly the problem was with my difficulty understanding what two workbook pages every day had to do with gin & tonics.

Sorry, I should have mentioned, the workbook is Bartending for Dummies (Level 1, PK-2).

I'm guessing it was too many gin & tonics.

I bought tickets to go to Spain with my niece! Yay!

That's great, Consuela! Where will you be going in Spain?

I went home sick on Thursday and have basically been sleeping since then, which explains why I wanted to destroy the world on Wednesday. Somehow I managed to do laundry and the dishes, feed myself with leftovers, buy and mail birthday cards + gift cards to my brother-in-law & sister-in-law, and go to the pharmacy.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I did one more box! Which is more than I thought I was going to do tonight, and means my desk is totally cleaned off and packed. I still have some more shredding to do, but my shredder is tired and needs the night off.

Thank you so much, msbelle and others! I still have a huge amount to do, but it feels much more manageable now.

(you should keep nudging me though, so I don't stall out)
