"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Wow, java. You must feel a sense of relief in addition to all the other emotions right now.

Wishes of calm in the months ahead.

Oh, yeah, forgot to say... good for you, javachick, though I'm sorry it turned out this way.

Good luck, javachick. I hope everything goes as smoothly as possible.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

The tree is boxed up, the room vacuumed (moved furniture and everything), mac is at a playmate, clothes are folded, groceries and new exercise shoes have been purchased, now more football, and possibly cleaning up my room during commercial breaks. I am thinking of moving the furniture around in my room.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Ate late lunch, did dishes, took Frankie for a walk, stopped by Tom and Nora's, met StW for gelato (NOM), walked home, scooped pans and took out trash. I need to run to the pharmacy and the grocery store. Don't wanna, but gotta.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I'll give Michelle Bachmann one bit of credit - when she says she believes legalizing gay marriage will threaten the sanctity of straight marriages, I think she's right. About the danger to her own marriage. [link]

Show of hands among those who think gay marriage being legalized in Minnesota would kick off a countdown to the following sequence of events?

1) Marcus Bachmann files for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences"
2) Judy Garland memoribillia auctions see a surprising uptick in bids
3) Personal ads seeking mature, dependable life-partner to help raise beloved Lhasa Apsos appear on Manhunt.com

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I really preferred [Rose] with Nine, though. The Rose/Nine year was as if someone had decided to make a tee vee show just for me.

Me too, Sophia. God, I loved Rose. I get why people aren't crazy about her, but to me she was perfect. Agreed that she was better with Nine than Ten; the schmoopy romantic stuff was too much for me. I don't need Rose and the Doctor to fall in love; I just want them to travel together and be best friends forever.

I've liked all the companions -- Martha was lovely, Donna was awesome -- up until Amy, who just irks the hell out of me. I find myself wondering if I'd like her more if she were written by Davies instead of Moffat.

Like if I'd continued as a programmer I'd have this other life where I would buy normal things and be judged successful in my lifestyle by other people.

Liese, for what it's worth, I think you're amazingly successful in your lifestyle, and I suspect many of us feel the same way. You live your values in a way that most people only dream of, and you are one of the smartest and most thoughtful people I know. Whether or not you buy more nail polish!

javachik, it sounds like the right decision, though I'm sorry the situation at your company has come to this. Wishing you something better soon!

Tally for the weekend: figured out some furniture arrangements for post-baby, bought M a new dresser, made dinner for friends last night, cleaned up today, went for a long walk yesterday, took a long nap today, now in the midst of laundry and (finally!) handwashing several things that have needed to be washed since, um, this summer. M is making dinner and then maybe we'll watch something on Netflix. Did not accomplish either of the major things I meant to do this weekend, but at least one (making a registry for baby stuff) should wait until we've spent a little more time perusing Craigslist/Goodwill/yard sales/etc. So, that's the plan for next weekend.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Oh, there's a guy who walks four corgis right around the time we're waiting for the school bus in the morning, and the kids LOVE them. They're adorable, and really friendly and patient with the girls, too.

Darby won't go near Corgis, because we used to dogsit for a mean, barky one. Youpi's dead though, and his people just got a new Corgi, tentatively named Lucy, who is sweet as all get out.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Today I have made lunch, done two loads of laundry, prepped eggplant and started roasting eggplant for tonight's eggplant Parmesan dinner, helped Pete figure out where I wanted two pictures hung up, and have started clearing the library table. I still need to rework and buff a couple different versions of my resume, finish making the eggplant Parmesan, and maybe take a stab at writing something. Oh, and the Infamous BlueJay is coming over tonight.

Why do I feel like I haven't gotten anything done?
