See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

-t, you are a genius. That's perfect!

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Ah, so they will send the old one back to me?

Yes. It will have a hole punched into it, but they will send it back.

Yeah, I only just realized it was expiring in a week last month.

You should be careful about that, even if you don't travel frequently. Many countries will not let you in if your passport expires in 6 months or less. There are even a few countries that make a stink if you're inside of a year. Hell, the airlines won't even let you get on the plane in the first place, and then you're out the change fee and difference in fare.

Luckily, I don't have any international travel planned in the next 4 to 6 weeks, but you never know when you have to just run off to Brazil or something.

There's no running off to Brazil, unless you already have a visa. They take *forever* to give you one, which is why I use my Italian passport when traveling there. No visa required. You're better running off to a country that participates in the visa waiver program. I know Italy is nice this time of year!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Jamaica, no visa. FWIW. No winter either. And buggery might be legal soon!

If they were Christmas lights when you put them up, they come down today. You aren't allowed to change your mind. What sort of state do you think you live in?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

If they were Christmas lights when you put them up, they come down today.

ISTG (no pun intended), even though I can count, I thought that Twelfth Night (which is also Feast of the Epiphany in the Catholic church) was January 8th.

Apparently I've been confusing Elvis Presley's birthday with Epiphany my whole life. That's...kinda awesome.

For those who first heard rock and roll because of Elvis, it very well may have been.

hip deep in pie

I thought last night was Twelfth Night.

I am taking down the lights in my windows, but may repurpose them in the house somewhere else. I do love the light.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Well, that makes sense because Epiphany is also Three Kings (Tres Reyes) in my neighborhood. And Elvis is The King.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Tonight's the last night I'll be turning on my lights as Christmas lights, but it was enough trouble stringing them up that I'm leaving them where they are and using them for other holidays/parties. Possibly with added paper lanterns if I can find a set I like.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Oh deeeear. Well, I'm glad I didn't run into that issue.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

So today the SO called to get the Directv shut off. They bumped 50 bucks a month off the bill, kicked us up to the next highest package, and added Showtime & Starz. They almost added in Center Ice, too, which I would rather have had, but gift horse, mouth. They also notated our account so that if we choose to upgrade, we can have a free HD Tivo. Which would come with a monthly fee, of course, but would still be 40! bucks cheaper than what we were paying.

Huh.
