Angel: I appreciate you guys looking out for Connor all summer. It's just—he's confused. He needs time. That's all. Fred: Right. Time, and some corporal punishment with a large heavy mallet. Not that I'm bitter.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

That is terrible ita. I'm sorry for your friend and sorry so much else has sucked lately.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Thanks guys. I...I'm selfishly at a loss right now. I have no idea what to say, and I'm worried I'm going to freak out, when it's not about me. I wish I could call her before the funeral, but it's too late. I hope she's on email while she travels.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I am sure that a message from a friend would be as welcome after the funeral as it would before it.

The question is, what's a reasonable alternative to PayPal? There's nothing else, is there?

A pretty good rundown of options: [link]

No, none of them are as widely accepted as PayPal. None of them will be unless people use them; you have to push. I've started an account with Dwolla and am poking local businesses about it. The app tells you where they're accepted, which is nice. They don't have much meatspace coverage where I am now, but I like the flat-fee approach, and their affiliation with a credit union. And of the options I've seen, I think they have the most potential for expansion.

(The guy who runs the wiki I linked to is definitely interested in getting more info so if you have opinions or know of stuff he's leaving out, I think he'd love feedback.)

I do use PayPal when it's the least unethical option. But I would really like a completely ethical option so.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I'm very sorry about your friend, ita. I hope you get a chance to let her know you're thinking of her.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

ita, I'm so sorry about your friend--what a nightmare situation.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I was trying to figure out how it was possible that I woke up an hour early, but still couldn't make it on to the early shuttle, which in my head is a half-hour earlier. Yeah, that's because in real life it's 45 minutes earlier, and I've been moving slow. Ah well.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I am so sorry about your friend, ita.

Unlike Jesse, I made the early bus today! I was trying for the early bus the past 2 days and did not even make the regular bus. I don't have a ride anymore because my ride somehow accidentally sold her house to buy another house, and then her pre-approved mortgage fell through and now she has no house and had to move in with a friend (and bring her mentally challenged brother, her niece and her niece's toddler, so must be a good friend). She was buying a bigger house because all these people were living with her.
