Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

ION, dagnabbit. I was going to make this [link] for dinner, but I forgot I don't have any onions! Not even a shallot! And I've already been to the supermarket once today. Bah. Maybe I'll just make it without. I mean, I have all the other stuff.

hip deep in pie

Related to the dentist, I think I need a night guard, but it's not covered by my insurance and would cost $500. That just feels like an awful lot of money. Anyone want to sell me on it? I currently have a drugstore one, but it makes me clench more, which I understand the dentist kind would not do.

Ha. I have a dentist appt. tomorrow which I think is going to devolve into an argument about my mouthguard. I just got a new one, my 2nd, this fall, because the first one was so uncomfortable I couldn't fall asleep in it unless I was dead tired. We had talked about making one that only covered my front teeth, but ended up giving me another one that cover all my upper teeth. The new one seemed better, but I still have the same problem...can't fall asleep unless I am already half asleep, and I only get 4-5 hours sleep before I wake up and take it out.

It does keep me from clenching, but it's so uncomfortable I hardly wear it. And...one of my teeth I fear is cracked, because it's supersensitive to everything.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Although caramelized onions are yum, I would not hesitate to leave them out of that. FWTW.

Yeah, it should still be delicious, right, -t? I just feel like a cooking failure, because who doesn't have an onion?? This guy.

This is my nightmare.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Can someone explain to me why the touchscreen on my phone has stopped working? Not a technical explanation needed, just a karmic one.

Because everything sucks, is why. Sorry everything sucks.

Because the universe is enormously unfair is the only explanation I can think of, ita.

Not having onions is not a failure. Onions go bad and get eaten up like everything else. Running out your inventory of onions is probably a good sign that you aren't overstocking, so well done. And, yeah, delicious either way I'm sure.

Oh, I do have onions and I didn't put any in the stock! I can fix that. Thanks!

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I never have onions because I don't like them and they upset my stomach, so I generally omit them from recipes. /datapoint of one

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I'm so sorry Dana.

And Amy, glad to hear you found a therapist. Crossing fingers she's good.

I am making navy beans with the last of the Xmas ham. Smells so good. And? Did I mention our Xmas was lousy--literally. Nice day to discover lice, eh? They are a pain in the tush, mang. I've been combing hair for a week now. Hoping it's over now and today will be our last treatment.

Thrive to spite them

I'd say make it.

I rarely eat onions any more. They upset Will's stomach and they can be a trigger for painful bladder syndrome so it's easier to just leave them out.

I found that cooked fennel has a similar texture/mouth feel as cooked white onions. The flavor is different but I've made beef stew with fennel instead of onions and I liked the taste. The licorice taste is less pronounced the more you cook fennel.
