Natter 69: Practically names itself.

I'm the person who yells at people in the alley. Suffice to say, I'd be both the person returning found items and the one who went to retrieve them when contacted...
Deck furniture oiled, laundry is ALL DONE and bed made up. All of my planned chores for this 4 day weekend done. Now I can figure out if I want to go buy some shelves or sort through my closets or whatever.
My house smells pleasantly of lindseed oil. It's a comforting smell.
My car got broken into in my driveway a few weeks ago. It wasn't "broken" so much as "hacked", though. I remember the night before I discovered it seeing outside a little red light, briefly, and thinking someone might be out there with a device of some sort. I decided not go outside to find out. I figure it was one a' them things that unlock cars that lock via remote. The thieves took a bunch of change, my cellphone charger, and my old GPS unit. They made a mess, but they didn't take my sunglasses or my little good-luck Buddha. (I would have been more annoyed over the loss of the Buddha than the TomTom.) I bought a new cellphone charger and a new GPS and wrote it off as the cost of living in a high-tech society. Even petty thieves have high-tech devices.
I was briefly worried that the TomTom had addresses on it, then I realized there wasn't anything a thief could do with those addresses that he couldn't have accomplished with a phone book. He'd just wipe the memory and sell it. I hope he bought his kid a Christmas present with the money.
Start as you mean to go on, right??
I absolutely took this to heart today. I started the morning slounging and watching Community, then I went to Target to apply for a red card and get some house stuff. Then I went to the house to do some minor lawn work, then I came home and had a really long nap, and now I am sitting on the sofa drinking mimosas and watching more TV.
YAY good day.
Oooh, mimosas.
I meant to cut back on drinking by myself in the new year, but I have half a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge that I could mix with juice...
I didn't do too much today except walk the dogs twice (probably did 5 miles total) and run my niece to the airport. But I got in a nap, which is great, since the dogs keep waking me up at 6:30AM.

I am trying to use up stuff in my fridge, so I juiced some tangerines and oranges, and adding some sparkling wine that has been in my fridge for a while. Nummy drinks, and ueful!
My sister was so fixated on mimosas at Boxing Day brunch that she was sorely disappointed that the included drink was a Strawberry Bliss (they add strawberry puree to the traditional mimosa). She's such a hardcore traditionalist.
I, on the other hand, am a lush who loves fruity bubbles *and* alcohol. Very pleased.
I didn't make egg nog this year because I was sulking. First year in a couple decades I haven't, because I was mad at my father and acted like a 12 year old. A 12 year old not drinking egg nog, unlike the actual 12 year old I was. Hmmph.
I realized I missed out on Christmas mimosas because my mother had to run to the church to drop stuff on and we all forgot about them! LAME.
In non-lame news, I was saying to someone recently that I'm afraid my family doesn't understand me at all, because no one had gotten me Mindy Kaling's book, but I forgot that we didn't do presents with my closest cousin until today, and she totally got it for me! Yay!
I love that ruby/diamond ring and the sapphire necklace. Both are just gorgeous.
I won at the knowing sister sort of thing because I hit two notes, independent of gift-giving:
- I named the guest account on her new laptop "invitado"
- She was able to log in without asking me the password
I scored a hug for those two. If I'd switched Windows 64 to Spanish, I don't even know how she'd have reacted. However, I'd have driven myself insane.
Dana, my condolenses. My father died 13 months after my mother. That was 6 months longer than I thought he would last. He wasn't in ill health, he just slowly gave up.
If you believe in an afterlife, then they are together.
