I'm not sure how old he is, but I heard him use the word 'newfangled' one time, so he's gotta be pretty far gone.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Other thing - that jail time for the mom thing, that is shit that keeps me awake at night. What with mac running away from time to time.

But that is known behavior for mac. He sometimes runs away and scares the living shit out of you, and people know that. People also know and can vouch for what a good parent you are. Also, mac is what, 10? Still not an age where you're okay with him running around on his own, but way different from an under-4-year-old escaping into the wild of the local market.

My standard "I am not a parent" disclaimer applies, of course.

It looks so easy on TV! They just sign one paper, if that, and then hug. NSM in real life?

Oh, ha. There are so many people involved, and so many legalities, and so many Things X that can't be done until Thing Y is done, the opportunity for screw-ups is enormous.

The only familiarity I have with Katy Perry is seeing her on Graham Norton, when she and Brand were engaged. I liked her, and thought she could do better. IIRC, she was raised by a really strict and devout religious family.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

You know, I really thought that once escrow on the house closed, the screw ups with the bank and the escrow officer and the real estate agent would stop, but NSM.

Dream on.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I liked her, and thought she could do better.

I really loved his performance/character in Forgetting Sara Marshall, and Geek Him To the Greek. So I'm fond of him.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

She's also someone who tweets about how much she's going to drink the upcoming weekend, while married to a recovering alcoholic. I suspect we just don't know either of them, really. But I've never heard anything more positive about her than her naming her cat something punny and self-centred. It's always been about her being a lame-assed gay "icon" with more stereotypical stupid stuff about gays in her music.

Yeah, I need to get off Gawker, obviously.

Our wings are not tired.

Real estate transactions have always been stressful and never according to plan in my experience. But have always worked out in the end.

I didn't know any of that. But yeah, we don't really know any of these people.

And I'm fine with that, really.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

When are you moving, Perkins?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So Emmett's friend Jake hooked him up with his Netflix account on Emmett's iPad and now he's mainlining Breaking Bad. Which is better than trying to watch the entire run of That 70s Show, I guess. At least he'll be educated about meth labs.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Good kid.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

It's a cautionary tale.
