What is soc supposed to be?

Like Cordelia, basically.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

In my high school part of the rich snobby clique. No such thing (again in my high school) as a lone "soc".

Our wings are not tired.

Yeah, I think my friend's comments were earlier on (we were talking about bloggers she knows since she herself is a fairly well-known blogger) - I think maybe 2008 or so? Anyway, now if you look up Ree Drummond it's pretty obvious that she's no ordinary rancher wife - they're actually quite wealthy. My friend was annoyed back in 2008 because she was still mainly being marketed as "ordinary rancher" and down-home-ish, etc. And it wasn't clear from the blog or the press that she actually has abundant outside help (and hired help). So it was annoyance at the portrayal versus the reality. Oh, and also, that she's a major, major jerk. It's really just blogger gossip! C also detests Julie Powell.

I remember when she first revealed on the blog that she has/had a nanny for the kids. And suddenly I was thinking, hmmmm, not very "pioneer" of you...

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Glad to have that clarified, since my first thought was sociopath.

Exactly.

I don't follow her blog but I've heard from friends that the recipes, etc are great. And I guess from a marketing standpoint, the whole "fish out of water" blog concept is very appealing, and that was the initial hook. Doesn't mean the content isn't lots of fun and valuable.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Short, probably, for the socialite set.

Jen, all sorts of ma for your mom. Also, take the excedrin. You'll thank Cass for it later.

Amy! Happy Anniversary to you and S! I always want to sing Monroe's song, from Too Close for Comfort, in the chicken suit: "Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary, Haaaaaappy Anniversary! (deep breath) Happyhappyhappyhappy, Happy An.ni.ver.sa.ry, Happyhappyhappyhappy, Happy..." to the Lone Ranger (okay, William Tell) theme.

No? Okay then.

If they're trying to hide the fact that she is wealthy in her new TV show, they're doing a bad job of it, also the jerk part seems obvious to me too. I don't want to know anything bad about Julie Powell, though. The fact that she is a buffy fan alone earns her points with me.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Don't get me started on Julie Powell. (I imagine if I read Cleaved, I would feel differently with the nuance and end result and whatnot, but I just can't bring myself to.)

I've heard from friends that the recipes, etc are great.

I've made a couple of them, and they really are. Easy, too. (At least, the ones I picked were, which is probably at least partially why I picked them.)
