Aaand, just found out my SIL's grandfather died. She's had such a shitty fall and winter. And now she has to go deal with her cracked out family, and I predict it gets ugly if he left anything to her. She doesn't anticipate he did (he was a cantankerous old coot) but she was one of his favorites, despite her parents essentially disowning her (he asked her "What the fuck is wrong with these assholes?" even as he was living with them!) and he just adored my brother and the boys. Uhg.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ugh, poor her.

And holy foodstuffs, ita! Although I wouldn't mind some bun and cheese.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

What an awful time for her. I am so sorry.

Our wings are not tired.

Ugh indeed. Funerals often don't bring out the best in families.

This time of year is windows open time. This week is 70s during the day and 60s at night. The a/c is set to 80 but it still kicks on occasionally.

That sounds fantastic.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I am thinking about going to the beach on Sunday.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Two cakes, two loaves of bun, one of bread, Milo, rum, 7 bags of coffee, two boxes of tea, and two bottles of jam. That I can recall. Food-related, anyway. I've never moved more. And I'm really glad my mother held back on the third cake. My sister still gives me shit for it, but Jesus--don't they understand I have a hard time travelling? How much explaining does that take?

Sweet spun-sugar Jesus, ita ! (Although I'm sure the coffee and rum are totes worth it.)

Our bedroom sticks out of the front of the house, and we keep the window unit in year round (we have central AC, but I CANNOT sleep hot, so it stays. No one fucks with my sleep hygiene!) but we have a down duvet so it's fine.

My office is upstairs, and I smoke in it, so I keep the window open year round with an exhaust fan sucking the air out. I have a space heater for the winter, but it's fine in the summer; I just put a fan over the AC vent directed at my body and work in undies and a tank. (WOO FREELANCING!)

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

ugh, poor SIL. That utterly sucks.

When we aren't here, we turn the heat off entirely and it gets to about 55-60 in the winter. We turn the heat on in the AM and it gets to maybe 68 then we turn the heat off for the rest of the day until the next AM. If it gets to 60, I'll turn the heat on for a bit and then off.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

This week is 70s during the day and 60s at night.

It's been a little chillier here (hit 70 today for the first time in over a week) so I've mostly been temperature controlling with the ceiling fans. I think the heater kicks in at 64? (I think AC kicks in at 75) Doesn't happen too often though. I've also had to switch it back to AC a couple times.

It's mostly that golden time of year where we need neither heat or AC! Love.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I am thinking about going to the beach on Sunday.

It's supposed to warm up? I'm fucking freezing right now.

Neither the coffee nor rum are for me, as with one of the cakes. I keep the rest, though. Already made a dent in the bun and Milo.
