Hello, Buffistas. Happy birthday to those born on Boxing Day!
I have no stories of drama to share. We had a potential drama, which my sister has fretted about for weeks, but thankfully it came to nothing. Short version, S. is dating a man whom her sister K. despises, and he was coming to spend a few hours with S. on Christmas Eve afternoon, so we half-expected an explosion. But K. solved the problem by staying out all night (usual behavior) and sleeping all day, awakening conveniently ten minutes after he left. He brought lovely flowers and seemed really nice and interesting, and S. wasn't shy at all when he was around. So I'm calling the whole thing good.
Now I am home and don't have to go back to work until January 3. Of course I'll be working some anyway, because the nature of the beast, but still it's a vacation. Today I just mostly slept and read and watched tv. Tomorrow I'll do something productive. Probably. Maybe.
Come on sibs! Shit, I've seen Sean do this and more for any Buffista in his vicinity.
To be fair, one did offer to drive six hours to come pick me up before Xmas, but she's a terrible driver and should not be on the highways in winter.

Okay. Well, she gets points for willingness to kill you both by skidding off an icy road. But doing it with love.
I am the one that doesn't like to pick people up or go to the airport early in the am - I am not a good driver , nor do I work very well in the am - however - if it was the way to get them here ( or home) I woud do it . And I have taken Bart out to SF ( back when It was part bus) so no one has to do it alone.
I would offer to pay for a shuttle if driving was not going to work, just saying. because me and morning are not great friends.
do people like the Kuromi by Sanrio stuff?
Yeah, I don't know what's wrong w/ sumi's brother.
Sumi's brother, you are shunned.
It's time like the holidays that I'm so especially grateful for the family that I have.
Mom was crying because she'd felt too sick to take me out for a birthday dinner. I ran out to get some Chinese food, and we watch Shall We Dance on DVD that she really liked, but I couldn't convince her that I was pretty happy with this birthday. SIGH.
And I join in the sumi-brother-shunning.

This--and also, while I would always get my sister from the airport, I also know she cares enough to try not to take a flight at some ungodly hour, unless it's hugely cheaper. In my family "but it was on sale/x% off!" always wins.
