Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

My brother just informed me he has the memory of a fucking moose. Apropos of nothing. And moose are known for their memory?

Remind me to see if he remembers that ( and accusing his wife of roofie-Ing him) in the mornIng.

This is funny.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

One silver lining of going through weeks of clinical depression and the attendant loss of appetite is that I can now comfortably fit into my skinny jeans and the fitted shirt I rediscovered yesterday: [link]

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

You're bringing sexy back!

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

We're watching lava flows on Netflix streaming How the Earth Was Made

I love that series. If Netflix even takes it off streaming, I will have to buy it. The Loch Ness ep is especially fascinating.

Not that I disagree with the basic message, but maybe denouncing "superficial glitter" for the holidays would be less hypocritical if done without benefit of the gold-embroidered hat, robes, and the über bling-y gilded staff? Pope Urges People to Look Beyond "Superficial Glitter"

I shall not relinquish my glitter eyeliner! I like when I look like blinking disco ball and he wears funny hats, so there.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I really like Coke.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

The family Tea is currently at the Penguin Parade. Penguins have been sighted.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Random things from the trip so far:

  • I told the plot of Hunger Games to my sister, and almost cried. I told her about Jenny and Joyce, and we both almost cried. Luckily I get excitable when I talk about Dean's substance abuse.
  • An 80 year old friend of my mother, wearing a translucent top (through which her white bra was clearly visible) that ended at mid hip and leggings (that got sheerer when she bent) complained loudly about her niece with the pierced tongue and short shorts. There might be stuff about Jamaican conservatism I never get.
  • My cousin has started taking it much better when I ask her if everyone she mentions is her boyfriend or girlfriend. This represents a fair amount of progress.
  • I have another cousin who knows that most people dislike her, but she has decided that speaking her mind is more important than popularity, so she sincerely seems to not care, and continue to be in high spirits. That's something.
  • The teacher that treated me the worst in prep school and the teacher than treated me the best swapped positions when dealing with my cousin (one above) and her kids. I have no idea why the bitch and the angel should or even could do that. People are weird.

Apparently we might make it to the beach. But today we go up the mountain for brunch and mimosas. That is good. I hope I stop waking up feeling this sick, though.

Okay, off to try catching up on TV.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Could it be that the Pope's glitter is ficial?

Or maybe he's just trying to bring back the sumptuary laws singlehandedly.

I seem to have seriously misplaced my cellphone. Am trying to resist the impulse to go buy a new one to replace it. Post-Xmas sales are making this harder than usual.
