mac is crying because he got a B&N gift card from some friends. yeah, I don't know either. I tell people, to not get him anything, but a few don't believe me. He will be happy with the gift card in a week or so.

He doesn't like presents? Or they're not the presents he wants? Or he's just overwhelmed one way or another and can't deal?

Art Crawl!!!

Hi everyone. Today was the first day of my Christmas break and I slept in and then went to my counseling appt and then went to grab lunch and I also bought some earbuds because all the ones I found were broken. I spent the afternoon knitting on my niece's arm warmers and I've made good progress. What I don't know is if I will actually see her on Christmas.

You're a better person than I am if charcoal briquettes aren't on your shopping list this Christmas given that response.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

When I was at Penn(another school with Quakers as the team name), the marching band was introduced as "The undefeated, Ivy League champion, oxymoronic Fighting Quaker band".

Intense Pulsed LIGHT. I think. It might still be a laser. Hell, I dunno. No, I'm taking a stand. Not a laser.

Awww, man. Why you gotta rain on my FACE LASER parade like that? Now I feel ripped off.

Mac, dude. Gift cards are awesome gifts, unless it's like, to a restaurant you would never go to ! There's tons of stuff at B&N!

I am proud of what I got done today, even if I didn't actually work super hard. Ended up watching about half of The American President (love that movie!) while finishing up some filing type stuff. I was super behind--I have now caught up through October, and I figure if I do November tomorrow, and catch up on December on Friday, I will be all caught up and can just finish up December real quick later since there won't be much the last week. That's the plan. We'll see if it happens.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

You're a better person than I am

Seriously.

Beau's mother got fed up with her adult daughter last year in early December (they live in the same house) and decided to spend a week in Florida by herself to get away.

Can you imagine? Such a response would be tempting in msbelle's scenario as well.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My mom is watching this "Home For the Holidays" thing, which seems to be famous people singing Christmas songs interspersed with tear-jerker segments about why you should adopt kids from foster care. They just used Queen's "Somebody to Love" with a montage of kids. That's weird, right? I mean, I can't point to anything in the lyrics that's obviously inappropriate, but it's just not the song that goes there.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I dunno, being gracious is a learned skill. Mac doesn't need to learn to be grateful the second he gets a gift right now. He needs to learn that he must ACT grateful to the giver and that you do not complain about any gift. His feelings will take longer to change (and may never--my Grandmother, who grew up in an orphanage, was the same way all her life) but his behavior needs work.
