If you have to travel to the office, do you dress consistently to work (obviously I'm not asking Jilli, here...)? I was reading someone saying she was ill served by being an eclectic dresser, because no one knew what to expect from her, who to expect her to be.

As an eclectic dresser, I have to admit I'd never given it any thought. Some days it's "normal" business dress, which makes me stand out in my department, sometimes it's normal for my department, and sometimes it's leather and sometimes it's 50s vintage.

Is this considered a bad thing? Do people who dress like me project uncertainty which people will then apply to their work reputation?

Buh? That seems ridiculous to me. But again, I am very biased on this sort of thing.

I imagine it would greatly depend on the company, how consistency of wardrobe would affect someone.

My coworkers are shocked when I show up in jeans (mind you, the bar is REALLY LOW at my workplace. But the only time I wear jeans to work is for really bad weather.) Oh, and once my officemate saw me in my at-home clothes (had to run in to grab laptop in an emergency.) But my neighbors are equally as surprised seeing me in work mode. That said, I can always tell when S or E are headed out to a gig, or say, a lesson. They're concert violists, their work-fu is unmistakable. Gotta say, S especially, manages to work out interesting even with an all-black, long skirt wardrobe. I say, if you are consistently inconsistent, no one will bat an eye.

Got a bunch of online shopping done. Got my dad a solar phone/mobile device charger. Figure he can USE that (S&R) and he'll appreciate the clever (we just had a long talk about putting up solar panels when they replace the 20 year old roof.)

So far: bunch of Allyson's books for the boys and Dad. Necklace for mom from market. Tshirts for Dad, Josh and the boys. Dad's charger. Would like to get at least one more thing for mom, goats or rabbits for the both of them. Going to do toy shopping in B'ham. Josh and I are "exchanging" firesafes. Still looking for PJ, will probably take her shopping. I think I'm almost there...

I am a casual dresser by default. If I could show up in my pajamas, I almost think I would do it.

I have been dressing better in recent weeks. When I teach, I dress professionally, any other day of the week, I am likely to have jeans on, but they are nice jeans (no patches or fraying).

In the summer, I wear t-shirts all the time. fuck it.

anyway, I am not at all eclectic. I wear business attire or I am casual (or I wear a nice sweater with jeans). If I showed up in a dress, I think my whole building would fall apart.

Skipping oh-my-way-too-much, because, according to the Buffista Calendar, today is Typo Boy's birthday.

People I work with usually aren't used to seeing me in pants, except this job has casual Fridays, and I wear jeans. I am Very Consistent, but I don't know that it matters.
