Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Killing just sounds violent to me, it's hard for me to rethink it as something benign. Same with the "If you could rape anyone?" question

call me jacki; zuisa is an internet nick from ancient times =)

I just read like 561835341 pages of posts, so I'm almost informed! Yay!!!

I've only run into that boy once since discovering the dreaded Facebook relationship status, so no progress on that front. Alas! But good looking, nice guys have been popping up around here like flies, so... that's good?

But I do have a funny story!

Once a cruise we do a 50s & 60s sock-hop type party. and my whole department is dressed up in costume as characters. I play the nerd (typecasting! yay!) with pigtails/ribbons, mis-matched socks, horrible plaid skirt, oversized sweater, etc., but I top it all off with a "kick me" sign on my back. It's all terribly over the top. I /always/ get a couple passengers who ask me if I know I have a sign on my back, but usually the crew I pass is just like "there goes the Cruise Staff being crazy again" and carry on.

But I got to the bar last night and someone I don't know came up to me. He seemed very concerned, and asked me if I was the girl with the pigtails and the yellow sweater the night before. I said, yeah, that's me. Then he said, "I.. well, I noticed that you had a 'kick me' sign on your back? And I just wanted to make sure that was there on purpose. I thought someone did that to you. Some other waiters who say they know you said it was part of your job, but... I was just concerned. Is someone being mean to you?"

It took lots of willpower not to just LOL at him, but aww! I mean, I was dressed SO outlandishly that the fact that anyone would think it was serious is a little puzzling, but I'm just going to be glad that someone I don't even know was ready to spring to my aid in defense.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

ita !, what's the effort, exactly? And is the red lipstick a solidarity thing?

zuisa, that's so sweet! Good for him.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't know that I can explain it any better than the website, but it sums up by saying: "March 8th, 2012: Show the power of women on International Women's Day by wearing red lipstick. Let's turn every woman's lips into a reminder of who we are."

Now tagless for your comfort.

Someone did a Roller Derby Hey, Girl. My life is complete.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Hmph. I'm going to show the power of women on March 8 by wearing whatever the hell I please, same as every other day.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

The Hey Girl series completely cracks my shit up.

I like dressing for the cause. I think if it's properly managed it helps visibility. And I felt a sweet rush of compatriotism when I saw other people dressed in purple at work on Spirit Day.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

March 8th, 2012: Show the power of women on International Women's Day by wearing red lipstick.

Wait, how does wearing cosmetics display "power"? Seriously? Buying into the corporate message that we aren't good enough and attractive enough as we are (and that being "attractive" is what gives us worth), so we need to buy their product and wear their product to conform to a societal standard of impossible beauty is how we display "power"?

Maybe I missed the first part.
