I guess my point was it shouldn't even take a google to think, "Yeah, that's a crappy thing to hitch your wagon to," even without knowing the history of it. For some reason I thought you didn't think I got that, which concerned me.
What's horrifying is that Romney's campaign runners presumably think that has a wide appeal and will be beneficial to their cause. What's more horrifying is that maybe it does for more people than I'd like to think. Well, definitely that, because I'd like to think it would appeal to no one but rather repulse them.
ETA: I think I'm having an issue because it doesn't seem at all subtle or nudge-nudge, wink-wink to me -- it seems very direct in its anti-everyone who isn't like "us"-ism. So, I'm shocked at that level of directness about something so awful (to me, clearly not their target audience). Or that political advisors, no matter what they actually think, would think using that slogan was a good idea. As in, what percentage of this country agrees? Are they right? Because if so, I'm... lots of negative adjectives.

I'm right there with you. But I must admit I am 100% mystified by everything Romney does. EVERYTHING. It's like he didn't learn from when he ran in 2008 - or any of the other times for other offices.
He clearly wants to be President so badly he will do anything and say anything. What does he believe?
