Well, if we followed the recipe...should be cake. A demon-violence-free-zone cake.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Yeah, when I was 10, Playboy magazine was in most of the same stores where I bought comic books, and most of them didn't have them behind those "adults only" things.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Ah, msbelle, good luck with this new and exciting phase of being a parent.

From ita's steampunk link, WANT. [link] And it's in my size. Curse the lack of disposable income.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Pretty, smonster!

I rather like the embroidered bustle (not that my bum needs embellishment). Luckily it's way small for me. [link]

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ah, msbelle, good luck with this new and exciting phase of being a parent.

Seriously. Back in my day, my father didn't know when I found the Vanessa Williams Penthouse magazine, because I just put it back!

ION, when I found the "other" messages on Facebook yesterday (check it out, if you haven't already - click on Messages), there was a message from a month ago from some doctoral student doing a study on crossword v. scrabble brains, who apparently got my name off the crossword puzzle tournament list. So I just did the study, which had visual and word/vocab questions. I totally tanked on the visual ones, but did well on others. As I learned at the end, that totally fit their hypothesis of crosswords v. scrabble! Huh.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Gary's party was fun. Had a surprise visitor from well out of state.(Someone we know from fandom/filk who was visiting other friends of ours.)

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

msbelle, chiming in with the, "I totally looked at porn when I was 8" brigade.

Curiosity, titillation, taboo, the whole thing. I would have searched for it, too, if internet existed. I snuck peeks at dad's playboys. I don't know if it helps to know that a lot of us did and look how we're all law-abiding citizens with jobs and such.

I wonder if, now that there seems to be more porn for women available, that might change. Maybe the next group of 10-12 year old girls will seek out NC-17 bandom slash fic and art.

I was reading (Jezebel? Slate?) about a male porn star whose name I can't recall who has a legion of dedicated female fans and tumblrs and such.

I remember finding a Playgirl and a Hustler stashed in the children's section of Waldenbooks when I was around that age. Not sure if it was stashed there by a creeper or furtive kids who almost got caught. I remember my interest was ETA NOT (important distinction there) more prurient than anything, but my parents never really made any effort to censor stuff and I really don't remember not being aware of sex and sexuality.

Back from my first visit ever to the market under the Fallsway. Somehow, I'd never been, and since my neighbors were going, I joined them. I still like my market the best, but they do have more non-food stuff. Didn't get anything except a lot of business cards.

Onward into the day...

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Cool stuff on IO9 today.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I have calmed the fuck down and he endured me talking to him (without looking at him, because that is one of his requirements). It went something like this:

I know it did not sound like it last night, but you have lost computer privileges not because I did not like what you were looking at, but because youtube is not allowed and has been discussed before. Part of that is my responsibility and part of my job as a parent, I should install software that limited websites and I will be doing that. The other thing is that interest in sex and having questions is perfectly normal and I do not think you are a bad kid or weird or yucky because of looking at the videos. Our society is strange about a lot of things and sex is a big one. All babies are a result of it and all animal babies are too and yet people get very bothered if it is talked about and it is considered bad or inappropriate to talk about in public. It's strange, but is the way it is and because of that if some parents heard that you were watching sex videos they would probably not let their kids play over here. You should keep that to yourself. The other things is that there is a lot of bad information or things about sex, like songs and videos and famous people talking that is not really about the facts you are probably wanting answers to. Trying to figure that out on your own is not the best way, but I get that you will not want to ask me things, no kid would want to talk to their parents. So we can see if there is a better book, or we can talk to your doctor who is a man, or (other male figures we know who would be cool with this). And I don't have to be there, but that is the way to get answers and satisfy curiosity. Last thing, there is just something very private about sex and while learning about it is good, watching 2 real people have sex is like watching a private moment. It is not meant for other people.

So I feel good about that and he gee me a big hug about 15 minutes later and is not shying away from being around me.
