Oh, and I got my mom this necklace from a local artist at the market. She's a favorite (and vice versa) of KW's (friend and neighbor) and so she gave me a huge discount. I haven't managed to take a good pic, but it is a diamond of blue glass set into silver that has a cutout of a heron in the silver backing. I saw it two weeks ago, and it just screamed MOM, but I had to think. And luckily, she decided to come to market and it hadn't sold. I have a clasp to add to it, knowing how my mom wears jewelry (this has a long chain meant to be wrapped scarf-like, but mom doesn't do that) so she gave me a clasp that we can attach when mom figures out the length she likes.
It's kinda like this [link] , but with an upright heron. Hope the link goes to the right spot.
S. had apoplexy when he heard that Jesse.
I AM WITH S. Clearly. APOPLECTIC.
I had already decided The Rock would be OK as Reacher -- you could make the French mom Tahitian or something?
I need to find a better shorthand for friend and neighbor. Cause the thing is, many of them are capital-F Friend first now. But also neighbors, which is a blessing. But to combine them seems like minimizing the friend part. Most of those I call neighbor are the people who would and have saved my ass and kissed my hurts. And some are just good neighbors I am happy to have, and who would help out in a pinch.
This kinda needs to stop. Ain't healthy. Yes, she's 14, yes, that's pretty old, but other than an uber touchy digestive system, she's in pretty good health and vigor. No sense in borrowing trouble.
Oh, sarameg, I am right there with you. I wish I had good advice but have only...me too. And, wishes for a peaceful heart coming your way.
I just got back from pick up amych at the airport and hanging out at the local meat market (er, Power and Light District!)
It was good times -- we squeed over RDJ's sweatiness in an A-line in Iron Man, and I learned more about fencing! And Dan and I get to go watch her fence tomorrow.
Apparently the important thing to know is sabre is the best, foil is okay, and epee (besides being pronounced "ep-PAY" and not "ep-PEE" -- I've wondered that for years) can be dissed at will. (PSSST -- I think amych has a blade bias!)
And I saw a lot of people carrying swords around downtown KC. Which, you know, totes makes my weekend.
sara, I think the friend part takes precedence, especially when you need to distinguish. Those Friends will still be friends if they moved away, right? And the neighbors maybe not so much, yet.
I get to go watch her fence tomorrow.
It is AWESOME.

Friends don't let friends fence epee.
