I had one boss who probably would have.
When I was a teacher and teen shelter worker, I would have offered myself up for my students. Other jobs, co-workers...NSM.
I don't think my boss would, and I don't hold it against him. That's way above and beyond the call. I don't want *anyone* to do that for me.
meara, was that the one that changed her daughter's FB status to say she was going to die that day?
no way would any of my bosses offer themselves to trade with me.
I think I would put $1 million on that.
ita, seriously? Did anyone see that and try to intervene?
Did anyone see that and try to intervene?
No, apparently not. Gawker or Jezebel had a screenshot of the FB status. It was heartbreaking.
So much would depend on how dangerous I thought the hostage-taker really was, what their beef was, whether the hostages had small children... it would be an on-the-scene judgment call that I don't think you could predict.
Huh. Sears lets you pay with Paypal. Way cool. That's a pretty big contract.
Matching Christmas jammies is definitely a fantasy of my mother's. We've never actually pulled it off.
I am totally following my agenda for today! I was out of the house by noon, having done a load of laundry, and now I am home doing my nails by 2, as planned! Unfortunately, I only got two presents, but I did get a real (table-top) tree, so that's nice. I think I'll do better shopping in Harvard Square tomorrow. My local independent book store is almost impossible to shop in, due to also being a cafe and being small and cramped and not having a great selection of the kind of stuff I want to buy (ie, mysteries). And the rest of the stores in my neighborhood are too upscale for me.....
I have friends who get pjs for Christmas every year. Even now as adults. The tradition is that they open their pjs on Christmas Eve and wear the new pjs for a family stairstep picture. (Don't know that they still do the photo.)
Anyway, after my fall that was due to my overlarge slippers, I've taken to wearing my zori around the house despite the cold. This has me thinking that handkit tabi style socks would be a very good thing. Despite finding toed socks generally more amusing than useful. (And I've never knit gloves - I really wouldn't wouldn't want to knit five toed socks - but mitteny tabi socks wouldn't be a problem.)
