I'm glad to hear Allyson's boss is ok! I was voting for going over there for sure! And it's one of the reasons I'm glad I currently have a roommate--no coworkers would miss me for a day or more and couldn't stop in if they were worried.

Oh, well, I mean Movado sounds like avocado, like the va part sounds like bah in bah humbug, and mo and vo are both long o sounds.

It was close to 60 degrees here today. Weird weather. But I'll take it.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I want to wear housedresses. When am I old enough to wear those?

Okay, actually I want to wear muumuus. But the awesome Hawaii kind with all the bright colors.

Liese, are you all snowed? My parents got nearly 4", and with well below freezing temps, lots of ice on the roads. I-25 was closed from the city limits to Belen (dad was out and has to take surface streets, as they live in Doña Ana.) INSANE.

And we've only had one night barely below freezing so far this winter.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

like this!

That apparently is not it.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

We got probably two and a half feet over the three days based on what I can tell, but that's from facebook! Because we're in Indiana for our mini-furlough, which means we've got endless overcast skies and some dispirited raining. I feel somewhat jealous of the snowed-in peeps, which I acknowledge is probably deeply wrong.

Seriously, though? If I ever have to move back here to look after the familial units, I am so going to have SAD. I am used to the sunshine, I tell you what.

In mildly related news, I took a bubble bath and painted my nails tonight to try to shake the doldroms (SO has been sick, his dad took a tumble (he's fine, but it's still upsetting), lots of emotionally fraught stuff: it's just not been a restful hiatus.) and I did it too late at night, so now I have to stay up later for them to dry, and I'm probably still going to have the little texture squashies in them in the morning. Bah. It's OPI's mini Sanguine, though, so they're lovely and bloody looking at the moment.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

ColorAHdo, avocado, Movado. Gotcha. Thanks!

I sometimes worry about getting injured and living alone. But I like living alone, so it's a risk I have to accept. Allyson, it was good of you to check on her!

Okay, actually I want to wear muumuus. But the awesome Hawaii kind with all the bright colors.

I inherited my MIL's authentic Hawaiian muumuus. I've got a scarlet one with printed black flowers and a cobalt blue one with printed black flowers. There are no labels in them, and Hubby thinks they were made by friends of theirs from when they lived in Hawaii in the 70s.

I'm currently wearing my MIL's long velour robe/house coat with a full length zipper down the front, my go-to winter coverup. A robe with a zipper makes so much sense. It's red with black Scottie dogs printed all over.

Thrive to spite them

I used to have a wonderful, floor length, robe with hoodie and a pockets that zipped up. Mom got it for $3 at a garage sale - still had the tags on. It would have been wonderful for Vermont, unfortunately right before I moved the zipper broke. So it didn't come with me and I'm still trying to find the perfect thing to replace it.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I like the caftan that Jen linked to. And ita !, that thing your sister suggested looks like a kurta to me. I wear kurtas all the time. I would tell you where to buy one except my MiL bought me pretty much all of mine, and I suspect she bought them all on eBay. But as for finding one foot shopping, there is an Indian clothing shop near my house, on Overland I think. You could try there.
