When I was on my way over she called to say that she was ok and was just sleeping a lot and didn't hear the phone. She's going back to the doctor tomorrow, and I asked if she'd just send a text/email when she gets out so I know she's alive.
It sucks being single/alone when stuff like this happens, because no one is coming home to see if you're ok. It hit me when i had to go to emergency but couldn't drive. She came to bring me my medicine and Cokes (nausea was horrible). That's a pretty good boss, you know?

Yes, and you're a pretty damn good friend. Keep checking up on her, it is a nasty illness and the fever can impair judgement.
One of the things I love about the community I've landed in is that my friends would have no qualms about coming in if I went incommunicado for too long. And I'd do the same. No longer worry about the cats having to resort to my corpse for sustenance. If one of my neighbors didn't see my daily forays to the pool, they'd freak out.
