toddson,
a crime-scene clean-up company to do the necessary work on her house. No crime, but lots of blood.
um, can you provide more information? my mind is running wild.
My mother has bad varicose veins. One day, one burst. Being the, um, sensible woman she is, she decided that taking a nice, hot shower would deal with the blood spurting from her ankle. After a bit, realizing the blood was still spurting, she got out, managed to call for help. The ambulance got there (broke down the door to get in) and hauled her off to the hospital, where she got a transfusion - six units - and patched her up. However, because she'd been staggering around the bedroom, there was blood all over. They ended up having to replace the carpeting and padding, but the crime scene clean-up company got it off the walls, etc.
By the way, this was a number of years ago. My mother recently celebrated her 86th birthday.
Not nearly as lurid as you were imagining, right?
OMG!
your poor mother. the poor house. I had no idea that varicose veins could burst.
I just saw a movie about crime scene cleaners, called "Cleaner" with Samuel L. Jackson. The movie is not very good, but now I'm picturing Samuel L. Jackson cleaning your mother's house.
Varicose veins can burst. I was with my mother when the vascular surgeon came by to tell her what she SHOULD have done (sit down, elevate the place it's bleeding, put pressure on, call 911). We told him what she HAD done and he got this funny look on his face.
I learned there was such a thing as crime scene cleaners AFTER I cleaned up my FIL's house post his suicide. I swear, coroners should clue people in when they know there has been a bloody suicide. Geesh.
Suzi,
apparently the cops are supposed to clue you in.
Oh my god, Suzi, I can't even imagine.
Timelies all!
Picked up some more socks and underwear at Target so I'll have more than enough to cover the 11 days of our trip.
