Look, you got a little stabbed the other day. That's bound to make anyone a mite ornery.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Doesn't the fact that that test exists indicate that female characters get put into movies for insufficient reasons?

Do you have any idea why she was put into the movie? Or do you just figure she'll mess shit up on principle? Because that's sure what it sounds like. And Consuela is relatively recently out of a fandom that had pre-appearance petitions to not include women in their sausagefest on what seemed a very similar principle, so I totally see her point.

Hoping she's well written is one thing. Wanting her gone is...weird.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

And if you think I seriously hate seeing women in movies because they block my view of the men, I can only assume I've been seriously misinterpreted over the years.

The discussion thus far reads to me like it's about your one specific statement, not about "over the years."

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

The statement that "I don't want a woman in the movie because she's just there to be romance fodder and will just get in the way of me appreciating the men," -- I took that at face value.

I'm quite tired of seeing female characters show up only to be useless, or be used only as sexual prizes for the men. But my response to that problem isn't "Keep the women out." It's "Give me more Aeryn Sun and Parker and Jo Lupo."

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

In other news, I'm starting to work with some new people (new to me) because of my colleague leaving, and I just sent them an email I was a little worried about, and the guy who I'm pretty sure is my new favorite person responded in EXACTLY the way I wanted him to! Phew.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Jesse, that's good.

A cover letter should be no more than a page, right? Related note, anyone available to beta a cover letter for me, just make sure I don't sound like an ass or have egregious misspellings?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Definitely no more than a page, smonster. I could read it if you want. (Edit: In the next 15 minutes or so, or later tonight....)

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I bought my brother's wedding gift. My new SIL has redecorated the house in Pottery Barn-style items, so I hope this is suitable. I know that I really liked it, at least!!

That's lovely, Kathy.
