"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So nobody is on the pie is the new cupcake train, eh?

Remember Cup-Pies on Pushing Daisies?

Which, I guess technically are just tarts.

Anyway: I love tarts.

Trust my rage

Burrell, thanks for the info. Given the size of LA, I think my visit will be too short. But I'll bs going back a few more times, so next time, I will pad my trip some.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I was doing a pie a week for a while there. Searching for the right apple pie. Got distracted.

I like my left eyebrow better than my right eyebrow. It's a shame that my right eyebrow can't be shaped to look like my left. It's far superior. I think waxers make the left look like the right, and I think they should just make the left look as good as it can and damn the limitations of the right, you know. Fuck symmetry.

Brave. Very, very brave.

Or very very stupid. If you squint your eyes, they often look like the same thing.

It's just those times when everything goes to shit that make such an impression on you.

Our trip is sort of destined to go to shit. We are driving to Idaho Falls, via Salt Lake. We'll be there for a bit and then on to Boise. From Boise, we'll go back to Salt Lake and fly to Grand Rapids (fly! with Grace! But without her oxygen... I hope this isn't a huge mistake... her crazy pulmuologist wanted her to have a high altitude test before we flew, but there isn't enough time. She ordered her an oxygen concentrator, but there are none available for the duration of our trip) for a week. Then we'll fly back to Salt Lake and pick up the GD dog and drive home.

My sense is this will suck. But it's not my plan. I'm only the person who suggested flying to Grand Rapids instead of driving.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

My right eyebrow is bisected by a scar and is not very thick. I'd like to mirror-clone my perfect left eyebrow and paste it over the right.

In dessert news:

Theoretically I'd like to do a pie a week, but truly, I don't like pie enough to do that. I do, however, like cupcakes but I only ever want red velvet or chocolate ones. And I think I like cupcakes because they are CUTE and that's all the cake I really want.

Have I mentioned that I'm making an angry birds birthday cake for a 7 year old boy? I have candy sculpted all the figures. I am going to do a checkerboard cake for the cake itself and use little debbies for the structures the pigs hide in. Crazy?

Too hot to bake now though. Hope it's cooler when we get back.

Wait, you're not even doing this for your own child? I thought it was kind of awesomely overboard to do for Noah and Grace, but for a kid who's not even yours, definitely crazy (but awesome?)

Perhaps when I have a new roommate I will do pie more. I especially like blueberry pie.

HA! Meara, nope. Not for Noah and Grace, but my friend's kid. I wanted to see if I could do it and I have never worked with fondant and thought it would be a fun challenge.

I STILL haven't worked with fondant, and it is a fun challenge. The figures were easy and fun to make (though sticky). And I've always wanted to do a checkerboard cake, so that'll be fun too.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Oooh, pie. I would like pie. We went out for ice cream tonight (creamy whip, with rainbow sprinkles) after visiting Tim's mom's grave (it's the 1-year date of her death). Her grave faces almost perfectly due west, so Tim wanted to go at sunset. His comment? "I've watched too much Buffy...I don't think we should be here after sunset." So I think he's handling the 1-year mark fairly well.

No undead were spotted, and we got ice cream.
