ION, my hair is kinda purple. It's kinda dark brown, but when the light shines through it, I can see the purple. And since I dyed it burgundy-brown over cinnamon-red, you can also see red threads showing through it. I like it.
I can't get a photo of it, though. It just looks brown. Sorry.
Oh, my god, so tired. I am so busy right now that getting anything done is needlessly complicated.
Skip Gates on Fresh Air from last week (?), and he's talking about race in latin america, and said he went around the Dominican Republic asking people if they were black, and they all said no, and when he asked where the black people were, they all said Haiti.
funny and fascinating both!
Apparently everyone in the DR, regardless of what they looked like, described themselves as Indio.
Anyway, Africans in Latin America is his big new project, so look out for it.
I went out and got cupcakes.

Interesting. Reminds me of how Moldovans refer to Roma (Tsigani) as black, even though Moldovans can tend to the swarthy themselves. Oh, the persistantness of "other" and the fascinating dynamics of self-definition.

Gimmeh.
I've got my booth at the antique mall up and running this week, which is exciting
I am excited for you!
And for quester's job!
I bought three cupcakes today: Salted Caramel for Teacher Vicky; Salted Caramel for JZ; and Red Velvet for Matilda.
Both Teacher Vicky and JZ have independently described the Salted Caramel Cupcake from CupKates as being the very best they ever had.
Tomorrow is Matilda's last day of pre-school. Then we've got a week off together (Japantown! The Zoo! Avatar Marathon!) and she starts Kindergarten.

I am very, very fond of the chocolate cupcake at Teacake Bake Shop. My boss raved about the CupKates vanilla cupcake.
