Isn't there one of throwing rocks at boys? Although it doesn't distinguish between the good and bad kinds of boys, IIRC.

I need to stop reading the internets.
M and I may be spending a night in Cincinnati over Labor Day weekend.
Woo!!!
We're taking a little road trip to celebrate our first anniversary, and we're thinking of hitting up Louisville, KY one night and then Cincy the next, partly so that we can finally visit the Creation Museum. ( [link] )
Heh. I haven't been there because I don't want to give them my money, but I hear that it is something else. I would probably get kicked out for laughing anyway.
So my questions are: (1) What should we definitely not miss in Cincinnati? And (2), is there any chance you and Tim would be around and want to get dinner with us?
Well, #1 is tough -- it really depends on what you really dig. There will be a TON of stuff going on that weekend, because there's a huge festival on the riverfront on that Sunday (Sept. 4), with an enormous (30+ minutes) firework show when it gets dark. Huge, like half a million people. Literally.
#2 -- We'll be around that weekend, definitely. I know we aren't available on Sunday (not because of Riverfest -- 500,000 people is enough to make me have an embolism -- but because one of our friends is having a Labor Day shindig). I definitely want to get dinner if it's at all possible!
I googled anyway. Ouch. Much recovery~ma, Hayden!
Me, too! *shudder* Much recovery~ma, Hayden!
Amy, my uncle died two days ago, as well. Not surprised since he was 87. But my dad is seriously depressed about it. It's his last brother and it's hitting him really hard. Last year, another brother was diagnosed with severe Alzheimer's and ended up committing suicide a month or so later. It's not been a good year for Dad.
I'm getting ready to go to Vegas and I am not even remotely packed. Even though it's roller derby so all I really need are tights, tanks and socks and my skates.
Too much to do and not enough packed!!!!!
Best wishes, Hayden!
Ugh, sorry for y'all's families.
In dishy news, that NYT article about families flying private to summer camps in Maine? [link] One of the camps mentioned is owned by a woman who is my sort-of neighbor, which I know because I met her at my local!

Seriously. That is my one qualm about visiting -- holy cow, I just looked up admission prices and they are steep! $25 per adult. Hmm.

Quirky neighborhoods, used bookstores, ridiculous regional food, funny museums... basically anything weird, funny, unique to Cincinnati, or really tasty. Where should we go for the best chili?

Wow, I was expecting some kind of holiday festival, but nothing that big. That's impressive!
I'm guessing we'll be there Saturday night, so maybe dinner on Saturday would work? I can email you when we're getting closer to the date. Woo!
We need to go grocery shopping. In related news, I'm having ramen for lunch.

Aw, that's hard. Aunt Doris was my maternal grandmother's younger sister, but my grandmother is not lucid very often anymore, so I'm not sure she'll even process the news. And Uncle Ed was my paternal grandmother's younger brother, but she and the sister between them died a year ago, so. Ed had never married, and was an alcoholic most of his life, so it's sad but not surprising. He had to be almost 90.
Quirky neighborhoods,
You have come to the right person. My neighborhood is all about the quirkiness. (One bar has Drunk Bastard Bingo on Wednesday nights.)

We have the American Sign Museum around the corner, IIRC. And when it comes to chili I'm biased in favor of Skyline (there are other chili places, though, one of which is right by the American Sign Museum).

Right on!!!!
