Didn't they say, too, that the police were so busy in Oslo, the news was a little late getting to them, or them reacting to it?

As soon as this damn last load of laundry is done, I'm taking my third shower of the day.
I thought better of going to see Captain America this afternoon when they told me the theater had 7 seats left, so I went grocery shopping instead. Turns out getting your steaks fresh cut by the butcher and cooking them an hour later really makes a difference; I just cooked a $2.75 chuck eye that tasted better than what I usually get in a steakhouse for $15 or so. I literally licked my plate clean.
I think the bigger problem was that because they were isolated, nobody knew what was happening. In the reports I've seen, those who had phones were texting to be quiet, and were communicating with each other or family -- possibly because this guy was dressed as a policeman. One story says someone posted a call for help on Twitter.
Just ran across found a more recent timeline based on police logs. Assuming I can trust Google translation:
5:27: First report to local police.
5:30: Police in Oslo get a report.
5:38: At the lake, local police ask for backup from Oslo.
5:52: More local police arrive at the lake.
6:03: Local police are told a boat is en route.
6:09: SWAT team arrives at the lake.
6:25: SWAT and police reach the island.
Home and fed after a long day in the park for a picnic and other fun; it included dressing up, climbing, swinging, and an attempt at face painting. Now we're sacked out and watching Wonder Woman cartoons and waiting for Hec and Emmett to return from a 3-game day in Fremont.
Matilda is all flopped out on my lap and completely grubby but unwilling to wash until her dad and Emmett have seen her face paint. She's such a dear smelly loyal little thing.
I like that the cinema nearest me has assigned seating. Not good for last minute impulse decisions to buy, but it does mean I can show up right at the last minute, having bought the ticket hours or days beforehand.
What's the motivation being cited for the shooting? Political? Personal? I read someone saying it was to get publicity, but I really don't want to consider that.
I have my place to myself. And am being a slug. CJ is off on a 48 hour survival training weekend, K-Bug is working her first shift here at Old Navy (she transferred from CA), and Noodle keeps wandering around looking for the other people. At least Miss. Kitty is hanging out with me.
What's the motivation being cited for the shooting?
The NY Times [link] says he posted a 1,500-pages manifesto calling for a Christian civil war to defend Europe against the threat of Muslim domination.

He's apparently right-wing to the extreme, and the kids at the camp were all the kids of the Labour Party. I guess the Prime Minister is Labour, too? He's apparently protesting immigration and the development of something that faction calls "Eurabia."
Jesus.
In other news, I just saw an ad for Rescue Me with Maura Tierney with a buzz cut (or, more likely, slightly-grown-out hair). Good for her, man.
