Have not been watching the Tour de France this year. For no particular reason.
And I think I heard some thunder! I hope that is the portent of some temperature relief.
And I spent tonight installing a new hard drive in my laptop and then installing the software. And (so far) it's working!
I need to see if I can get the Instant Watch on my iPod to work over the hospital network. That would be awesome.
Writing down daily spending and then writing down monthly stuff can let you look with some distance.
I definitely feel that having a budget on paper at the start of the month made me feel like I had more money. And using the envelope system for daily purchases made me very conscious of what I spent money on and took "no, I really can't afford that" decisions out of my hands.

It's a very cool 'village' on the outskirts of Barcelona. I bought an artwork over there, it's hanging on the wall of the theatre room (along with the Horus papyrus from Egypt and the whirling dervish sketch from Turkey). It was my favourite part of Barcelona after all things Gaudi (which, to be fair, comprises a lot of things).

You put budgeted monthly cash in envelopes, say 1 for groceries, 1 for clothes, etc. Whatever your basic discretionary spending categories are. When the money is gone, your spending for the month is done for that category. I did it weekly and used paper clips to divide out things in my wallet.
Not using credit cards is a very effective budgeting tool.

Money question - I had to pay deposits/installation fees for water ($125), power/gas ($150), and cable ($150). It makes sense to split those costs with my roommate, right? There's no reason for me to pay all of it by myself, is there?

smonster, I'm not sure. If your name is on the lease, and she's just renting from *you*, I don't know if she would argue it. I've never been in that position, though.
