The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Contrats, tommyrot! Pictures?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'll have to take some tomorrow. In the meantime, you can see pictures here: [link] Mine's metallic blue.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Basically, it needs to be 3" or shorter for LA, and click shut. No fast opening like switchblades or butterfly knives. It should tend to stay close, and not have a completely spring opening mechanism.

Basically, if it's under 3" and clicks shut and doesn't spring all the way open, I think I'm good.

Congrats, tommyrot!!

ita, I think part of it is guys wear looser pants usually, so they can fit more stuff in their pockets than women can. I don't know what tight-pants'd hipsters do. And then they carry messenger bags.

Where is your stuff?

My inventory is:

Left front pocket: Leatherman Squirt, wooden fidget piece, glasses cleaner packet, keys with button flash

Right front pocket: coins

Right rear pocket: bandana, comb, chapstick

Left rear pocket: wallet

My phone clips to my belt, my sunglasses go in my shirt pocket when I'm not wearing them, and my camera can go in my right front pocket when needed.

What do you carry?

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

My favorite knife store is A.G. Russell. If you are looking for CRKT specifically, try: [link]

For locking folders: [link]

I'm left-handed, so I dislike liner-locks. I bought these folders just for the novel designs: [link] [link] [link]

But for everyday casual use, my default is: [link]

I carry:

  • Money clip
  • loose change
  • phone
  • iPod
  • Nook
  • clunky keyring (has knife and decryption thingy)
  • pen
  • pencil
  • eraser
  • painkillers, two types
  • extra credit cards and loyalty cards
  • coupons
  • Flash drive
  • often sketchbook
  • chequebook
  • matches
  • security pass
  • pouch of coffee to ban smells
  • lipstick
  • vaseline
  • hand lotion
  • nail file

Nothing's girly but the last 4 and maybe the coupons and painkillers. Still, the rest ain't fitting in no pocket.

Because books.

If I'm just running out, I'll grab my wallet and cigarettes and keys and go. Like, to the grocery store quick or something. Otherwise, I usually have my bag, but I don't actually need all the stuff I carry -- it's more the space usually makes me think, "Yeah, it would be good to have a few tampons in here, and maybe some mascara and a notebook." And then most of the time I never need what's in there anyway.

meara - Jul 18, 2011 7:18:55 pm PDT #17191 of 30001

If I'm going out for the night (to a bar or dancing), I usually carry phone in back pocket, ID/credit/money in the other back pocket, lip gloss and house keys in front pocket. If I have a hoodie, I keep the earbuds in it, sometimes the lip gloss (I figure if I stick it in a corner, there'd be nothing in it I couldn't easily replace).

But if I'm not wanting to avoid a bag (going to coffee/library/dinner with people), I carry one--all the above plus the rest of my keys/RSA token/flash drive, box o' drugs (a little larger than a pack of cards), chapstick, kindle, maybe some paper and some pens...

Ah, yes, and at that time of the month or nearby, tampons. But I get why guys aren't packing for those. I always grab my bag if I'm leaving the apartment environs of my apartment building
