Alas. I loved Borders. And I have friends who will soon be out of a job, I guess.

Dilemna: we're going to be interviewing for my new "boss", I get to do a private walk-and-talk with her. The position has been dropped down from director to manager (to save money and so the ED can exert more control). After the fiasco with my last new boss, I want to sit this woman down, look her in the eye, and lay it out, and ask "Can you handle it? Because I can't fucking handle you cutting and running and leaving the bag in my hands five months into your run". I want this person coming on board with eyes wide open, but, lord knows what ED will feed them, and if I'll be shooting myself in the foot. And maybe the "manager" title says it all? I was so afraid to be honest with the last woman, and she took my dissatisfaction and made my whining look elegant in comparison.

OMG cat, why do you think it's a good idea to sit on my lap?? Aren't you hot?? I am not the one covered in fur here!

Juliebird, you won't have any control over who they actually hire, right? I wouldn't try to talk anyone out of the job unless you really dislike them and want them to turn the job down, and even then, be very very careful, because everything gets back and can reflect badly on you.

In happy news: the Out On A Limb at Morris Arboretum in Pennsylvania is super fun.

There was a little girl guarding the bridge to the birds nest, and her mother scolded her about guarding the bridge. I was terribly relieved that she wasn't a troll asking for a toll. She led me inside and showed me around. Her mother said she needed to talk to her about talking to strangers. More people came onto the bridge. Little girl actually dragged the grandmother into the nest by the hand. Mom said she really needed to talk to her about talking to strangers. I told the little girl that I needed to leave and go find my mommy. She asked why. I said because my mommy missed me and didn't like me talking to strangers. She declared that I wasn't a stranger. Mom said that I really was. As I snuck past the grandparents, the little girl was screaming "She's not a stranger!!!"

I fear for that girl's life.

It's replaced LOLspeak in our house. We walk around telling the cats constantly to get off of whatever they're on, and elaborate why they should get off of there (i.e., you are not mail, if we tried to put you in an envelope and send you to VISA you would be returned for insufficient postage but you don't care about the postal service you are a cat).

That is my new favorite tumblr! I have to resist from reposting all of the posts.
