There's an old guy at the office who knows everyone's name. Like, everyone. I know this, because he always uses your name when he talks to you, and he talks to everyone he passes. And he walks around a lot. It's pretty incredible. I meet with people and forget them the next week. Which is quite sad.

Timelies all!
I tend towards jewel tones and black, with some neutrals.
Yup, that Winter palette is me, except I can't wear much grey anymore: it's too close to my grey hair, and looks weird. I also can't wear small prints close to my face anymore, because of my multi-colored hair.
Strange things happen when you go grey.
I can never figure out if I'm a spring or a summer. I guess it's spring, because my hair has turned a strawberry blonde before when I've tried to lighten it.
I'm looking at random pictures of Trinny and Susannah, and they are quite often in colours that read as black on my monitor. They should be careful.
They reference black in the cool tone descriptions, though it's not in the chart on that link.
My problem is always that they say if you suit cool/warm/whatever these are your colors. But if I had a good handle on what tones suited me I wouldn't need the charts.
I'm mostly an autumn, I guess, but I swear I can wear some of the spring colors as well. And I look fine in black, so screw off.
But if I had a good handle on what tones suited me I wouldn't need the charts.
But if you know you look good in many of those tones, that means the rest are probably open to you. And vice versa with the ones that don't suit you.
I figure most people don't actively love colours that look really bad on them, but that could be wish fulfillment and self-delusion speaking.
Yeah, I actually really like to wear black (my formative fashion years were spent near New York City in the 80s, for cryin' out loud) but I don't look good in black at all. So I try to keep it away from my face.

Well, in CMB, first you determine warm (autumn/spring) or cool (winter/summer) so that would make sense.
When I first went through my entire wardrobe the colors I thought looked best were inevitably summer, the pile I made of "okays" were winter and the pile of "blech" was autumn. I don't think I had any spring colors.

I love autumn colors. A few are semi-acceptable on me, but most really don't flatter, but like flea said, if they are not near your face, it's not so much an issue.

This. I would never have tried aqua, for example, without those charts. Although I still havn't ventured into lemon yellow territory.
