Early: So is it still her room when it's empty? Does the room, the thing, have purpose? Or do we -- what's the word? Simon: I really can't help you. Early: The plan is to take your sister. Get the reward, which is substantial. 'Imbue.' That's the word.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm with a credit union, too. Unfortunately not SECU, because I've never been an NC state employee. My credit union was convenient when I worked about a mile away. Now going to the nearest office eats up the better part of a lunch hour. But they've been so hassle-free I'm disinclined to change.

Dad kept his money in a local S&L, too. My sister and I inherited a small amount in a checking account there, and I still have my half in the bank. Some of it is me being too lazy to transfer it, but most of it is that they were very kind to an old man who was, toward the end, inclined to chat with the employees for longer than necessary and perhaps a little more easily confused than he had been. So I've been in no real rush to move it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Well, that was fun. It's been way too long since I spent one on one time with John. He's an incredibly personable...person. More time was spent catching up than discussing Leverage, honestly, and discussing TV in general, but it was all good.

Thrive to spite them

I don't think I've ever used a bank only a CU. I've always gotten decent treatment. Although Mom had some issues recently when she needed a loan so she's mad and trying to find another CU to join.

Sounds like you had fun, ita.

When I mentioned earlier that I might take a nap, I hadn't thought I'd faceplant on the bed and be out for a few hours. And yet... PT has been scheduled for Monday and I intend to stay drugged up until then.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

We'll never use a bank again if we can find and join a CU.

Yeah, I'm thinking seriously about moving to the local federal CU when I get rehired. (::knocks on wood::)

I was just checking out the info on my Household Mastercard online--turns out they just bumped up my limit. Damnit, I'm trying to get that thing paid off, and they give me more room to shoot myself in the foot.

I really should see if I can find out what my credit score is. It has to be better than it was the last time I checked three years ago, when someone got my debit card info.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

My bank ran my credit score when I got the new credit card, and the bank officer was visibly surprised at the result. I think she actually said "Wow...your score is 810."

Now, I stopped in there on the way to (or possibly on the way home from) the gym, so I was in yoga pants, t-shirt, no makeup, baseball hat. I looked about 20 years old and possibly somewhat sketchy or at least not prosperous. So I guess her surprise wasn't totally unjustified, but I still wanted to tell her to not make assumptions about people (it makes an ass out of you and umption).

I am home. Not sure if I'm going to get to swim. If the pool opens @6, maybe.

I'm out of practice in recovering from a sudden power loss. Oh, wait. There isn't supposed to be a sudden power loss! Add to the fun, I actually had 4 separate systems to bring up, and they each had their own special snowflake issues.Including one piece of hardware it took until 3 to get straightened out so we could use it. And they don't know why the switch from one trunk to another didn't work when the first failed (though the second soon lost power anyway,) and then they don't know why, when the third trunk failed, it didn't switch over to generator. And they had to do some crazy recabling because a network switch objected to losing power and died, on critical systems, so they had to dig up a temp switch. So that's how many failures? At one point it seemed half of IT was in my office, diagramming the failures on the whiteboard while I was trying to troubleshoot over the phone with someone on a bad skype connection.

I really could use a swim.

Yes! I really want one tonight, but the damn pool is closed until 6:00 am tomorrow. I'll be there bright and early, definitely. Then, if it's going to be as sunny tomorrow as they're saying, I'm going to head over to my apartment complex's pool in the afternoon just so I can read a book and bake in the sun. I'm determined to get a little bit of a tan this year!
