Slept badly, and I'm not sure if I can blame the beer or the dog, whose nails need to be clipped.
I am blaming the lawnmower and having a much cooler day to look forward to, so my windows were all wide open. But that really just meant a bad wakeup. The sleep was just too little because I got enthralled into new science books. As you do.
I am out of real coffee.
I slept better than I did night before last, and woke up to rain (woo! don't have to water plants today!).
I didn't have scary-ass dreams, but I DID dream I was back hostessing -- badly -- at a restaurant I worked at in grad school.
I totally know where THAT dream came from, at least.
but would the belt have to be there? Couldn't it be adjusted?
Nope. It's sewn onto the dress. My breasts aren't that big. But this is pretty much empire cut on me.
Got the time off to visit the Leverage writers room tomorrow. Whoot.
Colin and I were poking around McGill memories some more, and his Go Titans! writing roommate came up, as well as his passing Univeristy friendship with Jessalyn Gilsig and Rufus Wainwright. I don't know what was in the Montreal water in the late 80s, early 90s, but it was potent.

RILLY?! That's so cool!!
Men may need more cuddling. Is this only straight men, though?
I could do with more cuddling. The problem is I'm fairly particular about who I'll do that with.
Okay, see this dress? That belt? Not remotely near my waist. Sometimes I don't know why I try.
I can't buy anything that has a built in belt or band around the waist. It just doesn't work, and I don't try. If a dress has helpful belt loops, I have to cut them off and/or move them.
I swear I'm high-waisted, too.
But the worst is shit that's actually empire cut. For those, the line goes right across my nipples.
Job search advice needed - mr. flea had a job interview on our trip to Dublin, on June 1. He has heard nothing. (Note it is now July 7.) Over a week ago, he got a job offer from another company and emailed the Dublin people to say, "Hello, I got a job offer from another company and was wondering what the situation was with the position I interviewed for?" He received no reply to that. Is there anything he can do at this point except wait and see?
In related news, yesterday he found out he didn't get an interview for a federal job he applied to (the cuts are made by central HR, on an unusual points system). Today the person who is the boss of the position called him to say he was their top choice and they are trying to figure out a way to interview him anyway. I hate the federal government's hiring rules, and I hate the job search roller coaster.
flea, I get your hate-on for fed jobs. D's deep desire is to get onto the fed side of the comp sec biz, and it's a roller-coaster of fiddly-fucking.
Also, re: the Dublin job? I think waiting is the option...but perhaps their lack of communication is an indicator that perhaps the org would have some serious drawbacks?
