Matilda's a sweetie.
Y'all have been busy this morning. I had a craptastic run around 6:30, sweated sullenly on the sofa for a couple of hours, gave the cat his monthly meds, and got one load of laundry done. Mostly I've been slounging around reading books. This weekend I finished a mystery novel, read a Georgette Heyer, and now I'm partway through Heartless. I'm hoping there'll be time to read a couple more from Mount Toberead tomorrow, too.
I just don't get morning people. I admire them, but I don't get them. At 9:50 this morning, I was in bed, sleepily plotting how to kill my neighbor for daring to start mowing their lawn at that time.
I'm a total medium person -- I would like to sleep midnight-8, pretty much. But also a total lazy-ass! So I might wake up, but I don't want to do much....
I woke up at 7 am, and my husband's reaction (he was already up and playing the new (to us) Harry Potter game) was "What's wrong?!"
I just slept a lot, getting over the EW GROSS stomach ick that plagued me since I Drank The Water (dead raccoon, county-wide boil order I didn't see because I'm not glued to TV, bleargh), and then the cats woke me, wanting food NOW, ZOMFG.
JZ, backflung, although I imagine you're still at church. Well-done, passionate and compelling, as per usual. And a hearty WTFF? for your former parish's struggles from this heathen.
Will I go to hell for calling priests a...naughty perjorative? Oh, well...
The white wardrobe in my bedroom is now white with blue trim and coral and blue drawer pulls. What else can I paint? I want to paint everything!
Catching up:
Yay, haircut, Perkins!
Good on you for calling the locksmith, Zen. I'd have done the same.
Consuela, that's a cautionary tale about vetting petsitters, no doubt (and such a sad reality for that kid), but it must have been guilt-inducing and angering for your parents.
Liese, I'm with you on the crotchety. Of course, everybody in the world suddenly *is* a baby from my POV. ::waggles cane in a menacing fashion::.
Erin, ugh. And ow. What do state health folks intend to do for those people who don't have/don't listen to or watch radio and tv? Newspaper announcement? There should be some plan. The present one is obviously inefficient. I'm sorry for the blargh.
JZ, I'm full of admiration and encouragement for you and your neighbors and compatriots. They couldn't have a better spokeswoman than you, with your gift of language.
The rest of you, make me tired with your industry, make me smile with your usual perspective, wit, and charm.
I'ma go celebrate, in a very low-key way, another year married to this cute guy. Laters.
I got up at 7 to take the dog for a walk, and went back to bed until noonish. My schedule is all over the place these days.
I was in bed, sleepily plotting how to kill my neighbor for daring to start mowing their lawn at that time.
The possible means to this end I believe you could come up with are making me chuckle.
Congrat, Bev! Happy anniversary.
But before I go--sleep patterns?
You know, I hoped briefly that moving three hours westward would shift my sleep pattern back into something vaguely diurnal. But though I set the alarm for eight, and get up no matter how late (early) I was still up, I can't seem to get to bed before 2:00. And it's usually after 3:00 before I do. Sleeping later though, is no longer an option I allow myself. I'd love to shift it back to 7:00--or even 6:00 in summer. About the time I meet myself coming and going I'll probably give up.
