I must have very insensitive tastebuds or something.
The cilantro thing is very specific, and I don't think applies to other foods.
Ginger=Even worse soap.
Whoa, really? I am so grateful for my not very sensitive tastebuds. The only thing that tastes like soap to me is lavender, and that's really just that I am used to lavender-scented detergents.

I was surprised, because there is almost nothing in the world that tastes bad to me. I mean, things taste less good, but usually it is how they are cooked. The only other thing I do not like is melon.
I will happily take all the ginger. Human or spice!
Oh, I once bought lavender scented dish-soap and that was a huge error. The scent on the dishes made my food taste off.
I've never had the soapy cilantro thing, until I was at a Thai restaurant once, and had a cilantro based dish that really tasted like soap. I was terrified that I didn't like cilantro anymore, but when I had some later, it was fine. I don't know if it was a particular strain of cilantro, but everyone else who had the dish liked it.
Cilantro tastes like soap to me but I can take it in tiny amounts. What does it taste like to non-soapy people?

Yeah, there are lots of dish soaps I avoid for exactly that reason. I can put up with my dishes smelling faintly like citrus, but lavender or roses or a tropical rainforest? DO NOT WANT.

Um... an herb? I am the complete opposite of a super-taster. The most I can say is that it's herby and pleasant, or herby and inoffensive. Too much of it and the whole dish tastes, I guess, kind of like lawn clippings and soap, but it has to be way, way too much for me to even begin to notice.
