I'm just, uh, just feeling kinda... truthsome right now. And, uh... life's just too damn short for ifs and maybes.

I am again at a place with my work that until people get me some answers I am stuck. ABout all I can do is continue to erase emails and write down procedures. So today I am going to finish folding all the laundry and I am going to cook some food for the weekend. Chicken and rice is in the oven now. Banana muffins are next. Then some jello for mac and some tapioca for me. If I get all that done, we'll see about more.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So I WAS working on my task, when all kinds of cluster-fucky things happened! I may get in trouble from the VP (boss's boss) for a minor thing that everyone in my department agrees is stupid (but of course I"ll be reporting into the VP while they do the search for my new boss, so I hate to look bad in front of her) and THEN a Big Cheese I hadn't even met yet popped in to my office! Yikes.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I was late for a con call because I couldn't connect from my land line. I can call my cell from my land line. I hope I don't look bad.

In general, I've been assuming the difference between hold and mute is that there's no mute music. But I associate that sort of hold with a telephony system. What does hold bring me on a cell phone?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

ita, when I call that number I get the "Welcome to the conference calling center" message. I hung up after that.

eta: I just remembered we have a Comcast cable phone system here. Dunno if that makes any difference.

Because books.

I just got "Welcome to the conference calling center," ita, from our land line.

I spent two hours at church doing daycare for Moms' Morning Out. BABIES!

ION, dunno if this is just a UK thing, but....

CALGARY — The Salvation Army says it refuses to distribute Harry Potter and Twilight toys collected for needy children because they're incompatible with the charity's Christian beliefs.

The policy has alarmed a Calgarian who volunteered to sift through a southeast warehouse full of unused, donated items and was alarmed when he was told by Salvation Army officials that the two kinds of toys are "disposed of" and not given to other charities.

"I asked if these toys went to another charitable organizations but was told no, that by passing these toys on to another agency for distribution would be supporting these toys," said the man, who wouldn't give his name due to his occupation.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

The anti-Harry Potter thing is fairly strong in the conservative churches here. I didn't start reading HP till I'd left university (by which point the third book was out), despite its popularity, because my church was preaching sermons against it. Is this not the case in the US?
