We killed a homeless man on this bench. Me and Dru. Those were good times. You know, he begged for mercy, and you know, that only made her bite harder.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I am working from home tomorrow and Friday, so that onerous task is out of the way.

I should take lunch.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Official figures on bankruptcies calculate at least half of all US filings are due to medical bills.

I forget where I heard this (and what country it was) but someone European was saying that if one person went bankrupt in their country due to medical bills, it would be a huge scandal.

Compassionately intolerant

I've made some mistakes...none of which included luxuries...but it's the medical bills that are pushing me over the edge.

This is the LAST thing I want to do, and that is a fact.

I got coffee.

My onerous task is to badger HR again, and I just don't want to. They haven't replied yet to yesterday's passive-aggressive email.

Now tagless for your comfort.

There was a PBS special called Sick Around the World or something to that effect. I forget if it was Sweden or Japan that said that.

I'm thinking Sweden. I seem to recall it was a Scandinavian country.

Switzerland, where they held a public referendum on the question of switching to a semi-public health services system (the services are provided by non-profits who get paid by the government, IIRC). Ten years later, even those who were furiously opposed to the switch think it's wonderful.

I suspect the special is streaming on the PBS website: it's really really good (and very depressing for Americans).

My provocateuse tumblr just got reblogged by its first fuckyeah tumblr. I feel like it's a birthday or something. Also, apparently everyone has a fuckyeah. Sucks to be you if you don't have one dedicated to you.
