this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Dinosaur Comics and the super power of Vitamin D production.

That's excellent.

And what's with all the carrots?

Although I think he has visions of reducing my endless bookshelves.

We spent the weekend remodeling a spare bedroom into a library/office. I sorted and re-sorted books (looked into box and grabbed back a few favorites) that have been in boxes for years, anxiously awaiting shelf space. I have 6 boxes ready for the used book store and empty bookcase space. The Nook is winning, but to have a library space again is amazing.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

The color Nook was a little awkward with its touchscreen operation. I felt the navigation was kludgy and unintuitive. And seriously, it was all error all the way. I suppose it's just because it was a demo model being managed by people who don't know how to use it, but there were system errors for pretty much all the books except the one where the lending had expired.

The screen was bright and vivid, but in point of fact I prefer my books darker, and don't mind needing a light. The crispness of the e-ink was noticeably nicer on the eye than the color, and the lcd would not qualify for the no screentime before bedtime rule, where the e-ink would.

I tried the browser, and it was perfectly adequate for my needs; i.e. stuff like here. The demo page that came up was ESPN, which I would be happy using. It's still a bummer for me that the 3G doesn't allow web browsing, but I can understand why.

And it was a pretty big downside for me that the Nook color doesn't have 3G as an option at all. With my 5G data limit, I really don't have any bandwidth for additional demand like downloading books.

I would like it if the original Nook allowed apps, and if I could do stuff like the Pandora radio on it, like the color does, but that's software, so it's always possible it will come later.

ita, did you get the newest software upgrade? It's supposed to have a bunch of big improvements on it, with notably faster page turns.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

NILLY!!!! Congratulations, tiny Jewish mama!!

All kinds of ~ma to Kathy on her surgery today.

OMG, Outlook. I need to change all upcoming versions of a recurring meeting. But if I change the series, I think it will change history as well.

I don't want history to be changed! I want it to be accurate!

You could end the series and set up a new one with the new information.

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

Nilly!!! congratulations!!!

I haven't had any errors on my Nook Color, Liese, fwiw. the touch screen isn't as sensitive as i'd like it to be and it's annoying that i have to go directly to youtube's website to view videos. in other words, if i'm browsing facebook and someone's posted a youtube vid, i can't view it there. not sure what the reasoning is there.

other than that, i'm happy with my purchase.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You could end the series and set up a new one with the new information.

Yeah, that's what I ended up doing. But for some reason, I got a meeting acceptance for the series I ended, so who knows what actually ended up in people's inboxes?

Thanks, Liese! Not trying to make tiggy feel bad about her purchase choice. I just need a little comforting when my model slips behind the times.
