I'm ten minutes from just having sides and telling the turkey to fuck itself.
Remarkably, the turkey is one of the few animals that has been found to do just that. [link]

Ahhh. So full, after a lovely day. Everything was delicious, I ate almost all of the pies, and I just really like my family.
Speaking of timing issues. JZ's mom isn't getting here until closer to 4pm, and I planned everything for 3:15 to 3:30.
That was us at DH's aunt's house. In our defense, when she said to show up at 3:30, I had no idea she actually meant for us to sit down and eat at 3:30. And normally when we go go their house for dinner, she's still in the middle of cooking when we show up so we're used to a 45-minute cushion.
So we were late. But the onion jam / goat cheese tarts I'd intended as appetizers worked just as well as savouries, so I'm still calling it a win.
(Except that DH gave his aunt ALL OF THE LEFTOVER CREAMED SPINACH which means I can't make a spinach omelet with it tomorrow for breakfast. I knew I should have held some back at home. Damn his impeccable manners!)
I only got the leftovers of what I brought, which is OK, but not ideal. Maybe I'll roast a chicken or something later this weekend.
How soon can I go to bed?
After Turkey, I say now.
Yay!
How you doin', Perkins?
We had a lovely day, too. Family all together, my wacky grandmother only being slightly wackier than usual, and the kids playing and getting along great. Also, lots of FOOD. I am now considering extra wine and a brief coma.
So stuffed.
Nana arrived shortly after 3:30 and everything was in a ready-but-not-in-danger-of-overcooking state so we were able to chill and have a glass of wine.
Everything came out yummy though I managed to make a very delicious, very starchy Thanksgiving without much in the way of greens. But Emmett ate turkey at Thanksgiving for the first time ever!
Matilda took one bite and contented herself with a buttered roll. She also bypassed the delicious homemade pumpkin pie, but was all over licking the beater of whipped cream. (Strauss Heavy Cream. Mmmmm).
So. Stuffed. And I've got a LOT of turkey left over.
Gotta drive EM home soon, but I'll be glad to be out of the kitchen.
How you doin', Perkins?
Pretty good. Had a very mellow day, but got some stuff done, like buying myself some shoes, and doing some Christmas shopping, and may do some more in a bit. After I eat pie!
Plus after today's Neulasta shot, I am officially half way through with the chemo part of the treatments.
