I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

I've done 2 songs for the bonus EP I'm trying to put together. I can't play any instruments very well anymore but I don't want the whole thing to sound samey-samey because of that. So I am toying with what I need to back this particular song. Took out my kalimba (mbira or thumb piano) and messed with it for the first time in a couple decades. Beautiful instrument. Wish I could play it better. Being stuck with only the key of G kinda sucks, though.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Thanks Trudy, I'll look at that. Might do something simple and mix in some of what I made today.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I have had the traditional night-before-Turkey pasta dinner, with some good wine and great bread. And I have made a maple-walnut and a pumpkin pie. And the turkey is in the brine. Luckily it's cold here tonight because the cooler went missing and we're putting the turkey on the porch in an old laundry bucket.

And I have caught up with The Good Wife and OMG so good. Hmm, do we discuss that in Procedurals?

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

We appear to have gained a cat, at least for the night. The little tabby we've named Oliver was shivering on the doorstep for about an hour. I called the emergency vet, and they assured me that as long as I kept him quarantined in the bathroom, Ruby would be safe from any disease.

There's a freeze warning for tonight, and I couldn't leave him outside. So I'll have to take him to my vet on Friday and have him tested for communicable diseases and checked for a chip. If he's clear, and Ruby gets along with him, we'll have a new kitty.

He chowed down a big bowl of food in about a minute, and gulped down some water, so I think maybe he has been abandoned. He was too hungry, too thirsty, and too frozey to have a safe place to go.

So he's warm, fed, and safe in the bathroom, having brief conversations over the baby gate at Ruby, and I think we did the right thing. I think. I hope. I couldn't bear the thought of him outside all night. Too cold. And he's awfully friendly toward us. He purrs like a motor boat when you talk to him.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

You did the right thing, and an awesome thing as well, Allyson.

It's weird, I feel very unsure right now about taking in a new pet. It's a for-life commitment.

My plan if he's got any disease issues is to bring him to the shelter I give to, and they'll be able to find him a home where he's the only cat or with another leukemia cat, if, you know, he's poz.

I don't want to fall in love with the little guy in case I have to let him go.

That sounds like an awesome plan, Allyson.

I hope he comes back negative though, so you can give him a home.

You did the right thing, Allyson. Lucky little cat, to have found you.
