Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Hmmph. I think not understanding American football is perfectly reasonable. Guy over the cube wall was totally laughing at me not knowing what a cornerback was. And you know what? I just had it explained to me, and in ten minutes I won't know anymore. Hit, get hit, throw, catch, kick. Those are the things I get.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I don't know what a cornerback is, and I used to be able to follow the game.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

A cornerback is the guy on defense who covers the receivers on the offense.

He's got to be fast. That's all you need to know.

Apparently a safety bit his finger off once so he could get back into the game. *That* I'm going to remember. Cornerback, NSM. Too many positions, too many different people. Not my style of sport. Basketball is by far my preferred American sport. By far. I love the intimacy and more improvisational and flexible nature of it.

I had a cousin who dated college football players, so I spent a fair amount of time hanging out with them and trying to get it, and no. The time spent with college basketball players was much more fun.

Why did I never meet up with any cricket players though?

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

and have good hands. Deion played both WR and CB. Remember when he was around? I had a huge crush on a CB in college. t /irrelevent

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

They also tend to be prima donnas, though not as bad or as flakey as the receivers can be.

Cornerbacks, that is.

The Wolverines we hung out with were a cornerback, and two linebackers. The linebackers got all the attention, let me tell you. The cornerback was a bit pissy about it. To be honest, I can't even remember his name. The linebackers, yeah, I still remember them. One because I hooked up with him, and the other because...he was the star linebacker. How many star cornerbacks are there, relatively speaking?

Deion played both WR and CB

That I like. Playing two positions. It's just more unusual than I think it should be.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I don't understand American football either. That's why I spend Thanksgiving cooking.

Because books.

Was it Kissinger who said, "All fall down, all get up"? That's football to me. S. has explained it roughly a million times, but it just doesn't stay in my brain.

Give me baseball. Nice and linear.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Huh. Now I wonder if I knew the positions of the football players I hung out with in college at the time, because I sure don't any more!
