Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Anyone used marshmallow fluff as a sweet potato topping?

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Trudy! Are you watching Skating With the Stars?

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Trudy - I have not, but my initial reaction is NO.

Megan - I am going to try that cranberry recipe you posted. Good excuse to buy some Grand Marnier.

Wednesday is going to be ginger cookie baking day. Making a bunch - some for my T-Day hostess, some to send to Kelly, likely some for my secret santee, and some for us.

Wait, cherries travel in packs?

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

They're in a fruit gang.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Like the Apple Dumpling Gang?

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Things of note: a) I only make pies from scratch. I hold no judgement of other pie making/acquiring methods, however I have A Thing wherein if I were to buy pie crust, my great-grandmother's hand would reach down from the Heavens and give me such a smack that I find making pie crust not only easier than dealing with Zombie Great-Grandmother, but also somewhat relaxing and b) cherries are not in season.

I was gonna say you painted yourself into a corner here ("Saffron! It must have saffron hand-picked by blind monks from Prague!"), but you seem to have pulled out of that death spiral quite nicely. Bake on!

Me, I'm making a quick gluten-free apple crisp, buying rolls and salad fixings, and showing up with all that plus good good vino. (I learned my lesson after putting the vegan sour cream in the cheesecake recipe.) (Actually, the vegan pumpkin cheesecake was quite good; we just picked the easy stuff because we have to stop by my aunt's on the way to The Boy's SiL, and we needed stuff that would travel well without turning into nastiness while it sat in the car as I was getting loaded with my family.)

I was gonna say you painted yourself into a corner here

Always. Like the dorkness that I am.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Oof. I think I accidentally managed to hurt my mom's feelings quite badly. I got an invite from my stepmom to go do something that I was quite excited about. I told my mom what I was doing, given that I knew she'd be thrilled I got to do it. I was so wrapped up in that, that I forgot she'd be less than thrilled about who I was going with.
