Ooh! I mentioned this on LJ but I fogot to tell you guys. We had a couple inches of snow overnight on Friday, so Saturday we had to go for a drive and see all the pretty. City streets were all fine, most of the roads are good. A couple of two-lanes were sanded, but solid ice beneath in those areas where the sun never reaches.

The big news is, the swans are back! We saw three pairs, one already on the ground three grey-feathered last-year's chicks, mama (I'm supposing) snugged into a small depression like she's already decided where the crib's going to go. Another pair was flying at angles to the sun, lighting up the long elegant lines of wing and outstretched neck. The third pair was flying away from us, strong wingbeats, with a darker yearling chick between them. So excited!

We sighted three eagles, as well.

We need to drive out to Fir Island soon and check if the snow geese have arrived.
