Occasionally I’m callous and strange

I am preparing to leave town for a fortnight and stressing out about leaving my house/cats for that long. Brilliant bonus: the friends/neighbors i've been trying to con into cat sitting (they have a toddler and an infant, and thus can handle evenings but not crazy mornings, but my jerks require two feedings, for they are special snowflake kitties)have relatives in town next week and nowhere for them all to sleep.....

enter perfect solution! some of their relatives stay in my house, keep the heat and water flowing, feed the things that want feeding and water the things that wants watering. Now i only have to shell out for a part-time cat sitter for one week instead of two. Schweeeeeet. A little strange to have my first use of guest room be when i'm not home...so i'm typing up an information sheet and trying to remember all the little quirks that a stranger sleeping in my home might need. Meep! Good thing that friend/neighbors have spent LOTS of time in my house (including helping with the initial remodeling) so they already know many of the quirks and can advise.

Also very very very glad that i have the day off before flying out, so i can actually clean and restock everything so friend's family doesn't think i'm a total slob who lets her cats run rampant.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

At 70 minutes, I can't really hang up and lose my place, but damn if it's not cricking my neck.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Ita, can you lay down and put the phone next to your ear?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Happy birthday, Sparky!

OK, I put in a load of stupid laundry.

So what I did was call the main line of the CVS and tell them I'd been on hold for nearly an hour and a half. Sorry, he said, the pharmacy is closed because the pharmacist isn't in. You should, I suggested, have a message to that effect. Maybe, he answered, after the pharmacy opens.

Yes, that will be a good idea. You should totally do that and help out your customers.

Christ, I'm sheeple for having waited that long.

I somehow got a small sliver of glass in my heel last night. That is, that's what my right heel feels like. It's in the calloused area and no amount of pressing or pulling reveals where it might have gone in so that I can try to extract it with tweezers.

I broke a glass while doing dishes at my dad's bday party. I cleaned that up very carefully because I feared this very thing. Yet, I don't remember being downstairs barefooted last night. If anything, I felt the pain in the bathroom.

So, a really annoying mystery. And worrying because I imagine lots of walking will just push it further in.

Now tagless for your comfort.

That deserves a stern email to the corporate offices.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

soak your heel in salt water , Spidra -- that seem s to help get the glass out.

And I am glad you are going to talk toe Doctor about Asthma, David. I was diagnosed 'til a few years ago - bt looking back I can see signs of it all my life. Last night's weather was probably a big factor. Give Emmett an extra 'Good Job!' from all of us.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Stupid pharmacy.

OK, I put in a load of stupid laundry.

Next time do the smart laundry. Maybe it will fold itself and put itself away.

Man, Emmett is tough. That's a gruelling course, congrats to him!

Happy Birthday, Sparky!

OMG, that's ridiculous, ita.

Next time do the smart laundry. Maybe it will fold itself and put itself away.

Such a better idea! Although I'm OK with the putting-away portion.
