I guess I'm lucky the hypernatremia effects woke me up because I would have been woken up otherwise by the middle school band marching down our street at 7:15. Am I really a grouch for thinking this is a bit beyond the pale?
Living in New Orleans I was woken up by marching bands all the time...I prefer it to construction and dump trucks, which is usually what wakes me up here.
In Vancouver, BFF's mother did breakfast for us, and it was bagels, which were Montreal bagels, which leads me to realise I don't know if those are Montreal bagels or just Canadian bagels, but they are THE BEST BAGELS EVER and I miss them terribly.
However, the jalapeno bagel at Coffee Bean is some kind of weird, and I like it a lot too. Not as a bagel, but as a harddo bread substitute, it's the closest I've found yet.
Definitely preferable to construction. But wakes me up regardless of whether I'm wearing earplugs or not... I'll bet the bands are better in NOLA, though.
I've heard Montreal bagels give NYC bagels a run for their $.
The baby cat woke me up at six this morning by jumping onto the night table and knocking over the lamp and my iced tea, which spilled all over me, the bed, and the floor.
And yet, he still lives. Grrr.
Olivia has been on me about "drinking and driving." She is very adamant that I not drink and drive--anything. She told me that the police will take me to jail if I drink and drive. So as I was trying to take the kids to school this morning and drink my first cup of coffee (out of my Buffy travel mug) she told me I shouldn't drink and drive.
I explained to her that "don't drink and drive" referred to alcohol only and that I could drink coffee, water or soda and drive. She asked why. I explained that alcohol affects your brain and body in a way that makes it unsafe to drive.
"Mom," she said, "if you put alcohol in your coffee mug the police won't know it's in there."
I am speechless.
"Mom," she said, "if you put alcohol in your coffee mug the police won't know it's in there."
Oh, her teen-age years are going to be so much fun!
Then you really will need alcohol.
I love Olivia.
Cash, can you recommend any educational iTouch apps for kids? I'd love something that does timed addition and subtraction stuff for Casper, or anything that pushes phonics, and Dillo would like something fun with letters and sounds. Ideas?
