Liese, your train trip makes me homesick for the train we took from Nurnberg to Bremerhaven. Heavy silverplate cutlery and linen cloths on the dining car tables! Heavy china with the train company logo, silver bud vases with roses, and an exotic landscape unspooling outside the windows.
I tell you what, I'd have far preferred a sleeping car to the awkward and uncomfy hotel where we stayed overnight.
