Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Jesse, I don't think so. You better find a fainting couch.

I survived! But I'm now wondering if my boss will be in next week, and I have sigificant amounts of work that can't move forward before I talk to her. The problem is that the reason she was out all this week is really sad -- her sister is dying. But it's still inconvenient for my work.

Lisa, I'd have some conceptual idea in mind, but let the florist tell you what's in season, etc.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Make laced shoes into slip-ons with inner tubes

I got tired of my bike's pedals catching my laces, so I decided to ditch my laces and go for something else. I ended up with using inner tubes to turn them into slip-ons. They stretch out to put your foot in, and stretch back tight. Mine are incredibly comfortable and very convenient.

All you need is a pair of shoes (laced), an inner tube, and scissors.

Huh. Clever idea.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

OMG, work wants a blog (but we can't call it that) for the extranet. All this expertise that I will kinda pretend I don't have.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I've seen commercially available shoelace replacement thingies made of stretch cord and barrel slip-lock toggles (I may just be making up names for the parts, I'm honestly not sure) that worked similarly to those innertube thingies.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

yep, we just put some on mac's shoes. He hates tying laces.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

lisah, I had a December wedding. I'd post a pic of the bouquet if only I were the type who was clever enough to scan it. But it was very nice. It was mostly roses plus I had them put some winter berries in it.

My shoes come untied a lot, but my bicycle has an enclosed chain so I don't need to worry about laces getting caught in it. But I can see the appeal of just slipping my shoes on and off.

But somehow I think it wouldn't work as well for boots....

not your mom's socks.

@Tommyrot - loved Windup Girl. Starting some others of his soon.

Also quite in love with Ian MacDonald, who just published Dervish House. Really amazing setting, there.

I stabbed myself in the finger with my boxcutter. I'm a little pouty as a result.

Cool!

On my lunch break, I bought his "Pump Six and Other Stories" book, as well as the new Ian M. Banks novel "Surface Detail."
