Guess what exciting thing I've discovered? Seitan! You know I like making stir fries for JZ but I do miss the meaty bite of chicken in my Chinese food. And seitan strips really satisfy that texture need.
No use to the gluten-free among you, of course.
But I've got some marinating in a mix of apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar and garlic right now.
And I'm going to make more of that raspberry ginger sauce tonight because it's just so freakin' good on ice cream.
ION, my neighborhood parking buddy - who also moves his car weekly behind the sweet streeper - flagged me down today to mention that his car had been towed last week. Just like me. So, now we can corroborate each other's story that we were parked beyond the construction markers and hopefully get our monies back.
(We only have a nodding acquaintance before today, but we've been doing this parking tactic for about three months now and we tend to park right before or behind each other as we prefer the spots closer to the bus zone. We'd gotten in the habit of scootching up to accommodate each other and now that little bit of neighborliness could save us a big chunk of change.)
They're the gargoyles on the Chrysler building.
Sweet fancy Moses, I dig those!
Thank you, Perkins and Sox.
This is going to hit hard later. The fact that the news got to me three days after it happened due to my father's brain fart is
really
starting to hurt. I'm not mad at my dad--it wasn't an intentional lapse on his part--but still.
I'm sorry about your stepgrandfather, Anne. {{Anne}}
I'm so sorry, Anne, for all of you. The family members who randomly and unexpectedly stumble into your life can be as good as the ones you're born with, and are sometimes much better and richer. I'm glad you had him in your life, and sorry he won't be here with you for years and years more.
My condolences to you and yours, Anne.
I'm sorry, Anne. Much peace to you and your family.
I'm sorry, Anne. My condolences.
Thank you. I was closer to him than either of my biological grandfathers. What's weird is that I keep thinking how I was glad he got to see the 11th Doctor, but how wrong it is he won't get to learn who River Song really is. Also, about a week before he died, I picked up some genuine Cadbury bars and some McVities digestive biscuits from the international grocery store for him. The Cadbury Crunchie bar I got him was the last food he was actually able to enjoy, per my Dad. And now I'm crying again.
