I had one admittedly very pretty friend say to me once, as we were standing in front of the bathroom mirror putting on makeup to go out (this is high school), "I'm the beauty and you're the brains," and I was just ... crushed.
I knew I was smarter, and she's a ditz even now, and I wasn't too insecure about my looks then, but man. Just the blunt delivery and the matter-of-factness, as if there was no way you could be both, really got into my head for a while.
I told a friend she was pretty one time, and she was all offended because she thought I was calling her dumb! Nope, pretty and also smart.
Our culture fucks people up in the most fascinating ways.

do any of the cat owners have a litter that they like and does not track?
I like the so-called World's Best Cat Litter. It tracks a couple of feet from the litter box, but I don't find it all over the apartment. I toss a little baking soda in now and again, but the scent mostly stays down because I scoop it 2-3 times a day. It's flushable and my cat seems to like it well enough.

Any ideas for canned pumpkin other than pie or cookies? I opened a big can, which was the only one we had, to use only one cup for cookies, and no one eats pumpkin pie but me. I don't want to waste it.

It was such a high prerogative in our family to not be stupid that I think that any one of us would make peace with being ugly just to make sure.
