She should bring a copy of her itinerary to the jury office and ask to be deferred or excused.

Okay, is it silly to be annoyed at one of the Girl Scout moms who took the info for a local production of Annie that I sent around (suggesting it as a Girl Scout troop activity), and has gone ahead and organized her own group outing to the show with her neighborhood friends, including half our Girl Scout troop?
I am too sick to even be worrying about this today, but seriously, what part of "troop outing" did she not get?
No, it's not silly. If it were me, I would invite the rest of the troop on the same day and act surprised to see her.
I am half tempted to email her saying, "Thanks for volunteering to plan the Girl Scout field trip for our troop! Here are the emails of the parents you did not include."
Not at all silly, flea. Although, when I was that age, the only thing I could think of that would have been better than going to see Annie would have been going to see it twice! Actually, that reminds me that they are doing it here, too, and I kind of want to go.
I just found out I won a $100 gift certificate from a cute, stylish boutique in a raffle.
Nice!
msbelle: You gotta. Sorry.
DO NOT, MEANIEHEAD!
Flea, I would totally send that email just as written.
DO NOT, MEANIEHEAD!
Well, not all at once.
Well, I did send it, but politer.

Yeah, she's going to bring her itinerary, but another co-worker said that the business travel has to be "critical," so I hope they agree that giving a drug safety reporting presentation to the people involved in a clinical trial is "critical." I'm sure she'll make her case well.
"Thanks for volunteering to plan the Girl Scout field trip for our troop! Here are the emails of the parents you did not include."
I think that last part should read, "I've sent your contact information to all of the parents you did not include, wench."
